Para decirlo en pocas palabras, las aerol\u00edneas han decidido no pagar m\u00e1s comisiones por la venta de pasajes y en consecuencia las agencias han tenido que reformular uno de los pilares de su negocio a pasos agigantados.<\/p>\n<p>Las comisiones de venta son para los transportistas un costo muy importante. Primero fueron las ventas telef\u00f3nicas directas, que no tienen comisi\u00f3n pero altos costos de personal (algunas fuentes dicen que una venta en la Argentina insume dieciocho minutos de call center) y luego vino Internet, que permite que las operaciones se hagan sin vendedores directamente involucrados y a costo operativo muy parecido a cero. Cuando estuvo claro que no hay nada m\u00e1s barato que vender en l\u00ednea, todos los esfuerzos de los transportistas se volcaron a impulsar el sistema, y las comisiones comenzaron a caer, con el objetivo declarado de que desaparezcan. El conflicto era inevitable, y el divorcio ya est\u00e1 en los tribunales.<sup><a href=\"#_ftn1_9182\" name=\"_ftnref1_9182\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Hace mucho tiempo las cosas eran distintas, las empresas de aviaci\u00f3n eran algo as\u00ed como los arist\u00f3cratas del sistema y no se rebajaban a vender los pasajes y dejaban esa tarea poco sofisticada a los agentes de viajes, a los que pagaban buenas comisiones. El cambio ha sido copernicano.<\/p>\n<p>El aviso que publicamos hoy, que es de 1973, es un verdadero canto de amor de Braniff a sus agentes de viajes. Por aquel tiempo la empresa se defin\u00eda como la aerol\u00ednea de los colores triunfales y buscaba convertir sus aviones y sus vuelos en una obra de arte. En este marco anunciaba que una creaci\u00f3n de Alexander Calder, uno de los artistas pl\u00e1sticos m\u00e1s cotizados del momento, identificar\u00eda a sus representantes, y culminaba su declaraci\u00f3n de amor diciendo que \u201cun agente de viajes es el maestro moderno del arte de viajar\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Hoy las aerol\u00edneas piensan que el agente de viajes es descartable, y para el caso espec\u00edfico de los pasajes, quiz\u00e1s tengan raz\u00f3n, porque la realidad de la hora es que la glamorosa venta de pasajes hoy ha sido reemplazada por un par de clicks.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><u>Nota:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref1_9182\" name=\"_ftn1_9182\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">[1]<\/span><\/strong><\/a><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"> En varios pa\u00edses ha habido presentaciones judiciales sobre este tema, que se han resuelto de modos muy diversos.. En Paraguay, por poner un ejemplo extremo, una ley fij\u00f3 las comisiones en un 6%, y esto signific\u00f3 que American Airlines dejara de volar a ese pa\u00eds. Podr\u00eda decirse que hay una tendencia a que los agentes de viaje cobren honorarios profesionales independientemente del valor del pasaje.
