Probablemente nunca lleguen a volar en Avianca Argentina, cuya posici\u00f3n l\u00f3gica es la de competir con los grandes, usando m\u00e1quinas mucho m\u00e1s modernas (foto Pablo Luciano Potenze).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>El fen\u00f3meno es viejo, tan viejo como Avianca, que sostiene ser la segunda l\u00ednea a\u00e9rea creada en el planeta: una empresa de un pa\u00eds decide actuar en otro pa\u00eds, creando una filial.<\/p>\n<p>En Am\u00e9rica Latina tenemos muchos ejemplos, adem\u00e1s de Avianca, que fue fundada por un grupo industrial alem\u00e1n en 1919. Franceses, alemanes y norteamericanos pujaron en aquellos a\u00f1os por hacerse fuertes en la regi\u00f3n y, con diversos sobresaltos, lo lograron. Fue un proceso complejo, que est\u00e1 relatado en mi libro <a href=\"http:\/\/www.librosdeturismo.com.ar\/catalogo\/busqueda\/556_aviones-politica-y-dinero?&amp;clave=potenze\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Aviones, pol\u00edtica y dinero<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>La historia siempre es din\u00e1mica, y lo que a principios del siglo pasado era una operaci\u00f3n de empresas extrarregionales ahora parece ser un objetivo de capitales sudamericanos. LAN Airlines y Avianca Holdings han anunciado a diestra y siniestra que quieren convertirse en cabezas de grupos de alcance mundial, y en ese sentido est\u00e1n trabajando desde hace a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<h2>Avianca<\/h2>\n<p>La moderna Avianca naci\u00f3 a partir de la quiebra de la antigua, en 2003, en medio de una seria crisis de las alas colombianas. Las tramitaciones se hicieron en la corte de Nueva York, donde pujaron por los despojos Continental, COPA, LAN, TACA y el grupo brasile\u00f1o Sinergy, liderado por Germ\u00e1n Efromovich, un brasile\u00f1o con nacionalidad colombiana, propietario de la peque\u00f1a aerol\u00ednea brasile\u00f1a Oceanair, un taxi a\u00e9reo que se convirti\u00f3 en aerol\u00ednea con la quiebra de Varig. Efromovich triunf\u00f3 y logr\u00f3 comprar el 75%, completando su acceso al total de la empresa en 2005.<\/p>\n<p>A partir de all\u00ed, Efromovich fue levantando a la empresa colombiana y comenz\u00f3 lentamente a construir un holding continental que adopt\u00f3 el nombre de Avianca, pero como acr\u00f3nimo de Aerov\u00edas del Continente Americano. Estrictamente hablando, la capitalizaci\u00f3n de la empresa fue multinacional, y en 2005 no exist\u00eda ninguna empresa a\u00e9rea colombiana de cierta importancia que tuviera capital colombiano.<\/p>\n<p>Desde 2007 Avianca fue incorporando filiales (de alg\u00fan modo hay que llamarlas) en Per\u00fa y Ecuador, pero su golpe m\u00e1s notable fue la toma de control de TACA, en octubre de 2009, con lo que pas\u00f3 a tener aerol\u00edneas de varios pa\u00edses centroamericanos y la carguera Tampa. Poco despu\u00e9s incorpor\u00f3 a Aero Gal\u00e1pagos (Aerogal).<\/p>\n<p>Avianca y LAN pujan por la supremac\u00eda en Am\u00e9rica Latina. Para ello deben hacer pie en la mayor cantidad de pa\u00edses posible, controlando empresas locales que les aporten pasajeros a sus hubs internacionales. Los colombianos tienen a Bogot\u00e1 como cabecera de sus vuelos de largo aliento, a la que se suman los antiguos hubs de TACA (San Jos\u00e9 y San Salvador) y Lima, y los chilenos est\u00e1n basados en Lima y Santiago, a los que se suma San Pablo, el principal hub de TAM.<\/p>\n<h2>Argentina<\/h2>\n<p>Argentina, el cuarto pa\u00eds m\u00e1s poblado de la regi\u00f3n, y el tercer PBI, es un mercado importante para cualquier empresa regional con aspiraciones. Adicionalmente, tiene relativamente pocos pasajeros por habitante, lo que marca que hay espacio para crecer. Es una prioridad para cualquiera que tenga intenciones de hacer un sistema de transportes sudamericano. el atractivo para estas grandes empresas latinoamericanas es hacer tr\u00e1fico de sexta libertad (transportar pasajeros entre terceros pa\u00edses pasando por el pa\u00eds de bandera de la aeronave), Si hay un mercado, las empresas lo disputan y, si los gobiernos hacen las cosas bien \u2014algo que no siempre ocurre\u2014 los beneficiados son los pasajeros e, indirectamente, el pa\u00eds que usufruct\u00faa la riqueza generada por el servicio. Hay m\u00e1s fuentes de trabajo y el turismo y el comercio se desarrollan.<\/p>\n<p>Repito, si los gobiernos hacen las cosas bien. Lo que hizo la Argentina con Iberia y Marsans fue un ejemplo de lo que no hay que hacer.<\/p>\n<h2>Macair<\/h2>\n<p>Para ingresar al mercado argentino, Avianca eligi\u00f3 el mismo camino que LAN en 2005, aunque en circunstancias distintas: la compra de una empresa argentina. Entonces fue Aero2000, que era insignificante y ten\u00eda serias limitaciones, ahora es Macair, una empresa que est\u00e1 operando en peque\u00f1a escala y tiene t\u00edtulos para hacerlo.<\/p>\n<p>Macair Jet S.A es una empresa del grupo Macri, que recibi\u00f3 en 1998 una autorizaci\u00f3n para hacer vuelos no regulares de carga con Boeing 707 y, en 1999, una concesi\u00f3n para hacer vuelos regulares de carga a Sao Paulo, Miami y Santiago de Chile con aeronaves sin limitaci\u00f3n de porte. En aquellos tiempos se daban esos permisos surrealistas, pero la empresa jam\u00e1s tuvo un avi\u00f3n parecido a un 707 y la concesi\u00f3n fue cancelada en 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s, Macair anunci\u00f3 que ingresar\u00eda en el mercado de charters para hombres de negocios, utilizando Learjet 25 y 35 y cuatro BAe Jetstream 32 que hab\u00edan sido operados por AeroVip, cuya compra estaba negociando con British Aerospace. Los casos de LAER y Aerochaco son significativos.
