Superado el stresss de la muestra, <strong>Fredrik Gustafson<\/strong>, su\u00a0gerente regional para la Am\u00e9rica Latina hispanoparlante (excepto Colombia, que hace poco cuenta con una oficina dedicada),\u00a0recibi\u00f3 a Gaceta Aeron\u00e1utica en sus oficinas de Las Condes (Santiago de Chile) para repasar la participaci\u00f3n de la\u00a0empresa en FIDAE 2016 y poner en perspectiva a su producto estrella, el caza multiprop\u00f3sito Gripen. En esta, la primera de dos notas, nuestro entrevistado pasa revista de la feria,\u00a0nos ayuda a entrar en contexto con el Gripen y deja en suspenso hasta\u00a0la pr\u00f3xima entrega su visi\u00f3n del mercado que espera al caza sueco en nuestra regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Preguntas &amp; respuestas<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> Ay: <\/strong>Cuando comenz\u00e1bamos nuestra conversaci\u00f3n, me dec\u00edas que Uds. consideran que Am\u00e9rica Latina es una de las cinco \u00e1reas de marketing de Saab en este momento. La primera pregunta viene como \u201canillo al dedo\u201d, entonces: \u00bfC\u00f3mo puede ser que Saab muestre tanto entusiasmo y tanto foco por el potencial de este mercado cuando la propia Am\u00e9rica Latina est\u00e1 atrapada en una espiral de bajo crecimiento econ\u00f3mico y de crisis pol\u00edtica?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em> Gustafson<\/em><\/strong><em>: Muy buena pregunta. Hay que pensar en el ritmo de este tipo de negocios. No [se trata de] negocios que hacemos de un mes a otro mes. Mirando [por ejemplo] el proceso en Brasil: Estuvimos all\u00e1 [por] a\u00f1os. Empezamos con lo que llamaron el \u201cFX1\u201d en 1997, yo creo. Tres presidentes y no s\u00e9 cu\u00e1ntos ministros despu\u00e9s, ya tenemos un contrato. O sea, hay que pensar en el largo plazo. S\u00ed estamos en una situaci\u00f3n ahora semi-complicada. Pero, \u00bfcu\u00e1l ser\u00e1 la situaci\u00f3n en cinco a\u00f1os? \u00bfCu\u00e1l ser\u00e1 la situaci\u00f3n en 10 a\u00f1os? Cuando estamos hablando de negocios de defensa y seguridad, hay que pensar en el largo plazo. Y por eso estamos aqu\u00ed: Estamos, \u00bfc\u00f3mo se dice?, \u201csembrando para cosechar\u201d m\u00e1s tarde [se r\u00ede].<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong> Ay:<\/strong> \u00bfQu\u00e9 objetivos esperaban lograr con esta presentaci\u00f3n en FIDAE 2016? \u00bfLos alcanzaron?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em> Gustafson<\/em><\/strong><em>: S\u00ed. Yo ten\u00eda mis dudas de la feria [y] no sab\u00eda c\u00f3mo \u00edbamos a lograr las metas que ten\u00edamos. Pero [te] digo ahora que fue un \u00e9xito bastante grande. \u00a1Claro! Llevamos el modelo full-scale replica del Gripen, que es siempre un [im\u00e1n para los visitantes]. Pero, mirando las delegaciones que pasaron por Saab, el [re]conocimiento que Saab tiene en la regi\u00f3n [result\u00f3 ser] hasta una sorpresa para m\u00ed. Pasaron todas las delegaciones oficiales por nuestro stand. [Tuvimos] muy buenas reuniones con las delegaciones, desde ministros, [pasando] por generales, hasta otras [personalidades]. Uds. llevan, en lo que a m\u00ed respecta, por lo menos 10 a\u00f1os continuados present\u00e1ndose en FIDAE; pero este a\u00f1o fueron definitivamente m\u00e1s \u201cmedi\u00e1ticos\u201d y m\u00e1s llamativos.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em> Gustafson<\/em><\/strong><em>: [Tuvimos] una estrategia mucho m\u00e1s enfocada esta vez en trabajar con los medios antes y durante la feria. Claro [que todo] es m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil cuando uno es conocido, como ahora. Tambi\u00e9n quer\u00edamos [aprovechar] la oportunidad de presentar el portfolio de no s\u00f3lo defensa [sino] tambi\u00e9n en seguridad civil [y] en temas de desastres naturales; porque es un tema de la regi\u00f3n ahora. Especialmente en un a\u00f1o como este con el [fen\u00f3meno de] El Ni\u00f1o. Yo creo que estas cosas, en combinaci\u00f3n, [ayudaron a] que logr\u00e1ramos lo que quer\u00edamos.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong> Ay:<\/strong> Siguiendo con la comparaci\u00f3n de estrategias, en la d\u00e9cada del \u201990 Saab tambi\u00e9n tuvo una presencia muy fuerte para, en aquel entonces, promocionar el Gripen para la Fuerza A\u00e9rea de Chile. \u00bfVes diferencias de estrategia entre esta del 2016, las de los diez a\u00f1os anteriores y las de la d\u00e9cada de 1990?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em> Gustafson<\/em><\/strong><em>: S\u00ed, absolutamente. En esa \u00e9poca era un esfuerzo aislado, digamos. Ten\u00edamos este proyecto nom\u00e1s [y] cuando cay\u00f3, cay\u00f3 nuestra presencia tambi\u00e9n. Pero ahora, con el \u00e9xito que hemos tenido en el mundo con el Gripen, m\u00e1s que todo en Brasil, [implica que] la presencia aqu\u00ed es parte de algo mucho m\u00e1s grande y de mucho m\u00e1s largo plazo. Y, tambi\u00e9n, en esa \u00e9poca [nuestro mercado] era [s\u00f3lo] Chile, Chile y Chile. Pero ahora podemos ver un mercado mucho m\u00e1s grande en la regi\u00f3n [y] de largo plazo. Entonces podemos inclinar varios pilares en un esfuerzo m\u00e1s abarcativo.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Entrando en materia\u00a0con el\u00a0Gripen<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> Ay:<\/strong> \u00bfCu\u00e1l dir\u00edas que es el estado de salud actual del programa, midi\u00e9ndolo por ejemplo en prospectos de mercado y vida remanente para las l\u00edneas de producci\u00f3n?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em> Gustafson<\/em><\/strong><em>: Bueno, dir\u00eda que [est\u00e1] muy sano el programa. Estamos en producci\u00f3n ahora para [lanzar] el Gripen NG (Nueva Generaci\u00f3n) para Suecia y Brasil. Estamos [prepar\u00e1ndonos] para hacer el roll-out del primer avi\u00f3n de serie ahora en mayo, que vamos a mostrar en Suecia, y siguen los preparativos de la fabricaci\u00f3n [en serie]. Tambi\u00e9n seguimos [produciendo los modelos] C y D que ya est\u00e1n [siendo] operado por varios pa\u00edses; y podemos ofrecer ambos [modelos: C\/D y NG] al mercado ahora. Yo dir\u00eda que nosotros, como empresa, tenemos el producto m\u00e1s maduro del mercado. Capacidad de hacer todo el mantenimiento del motor y [as\u00ed con el resto del sistema de armas]&#8230; eso tiene su precio. Y si hoy en d\u00eda estamos hablando de una organizaci\u00f3n de la OTAN o la Uni\u00f3n Europea, etc., etc., etc., hay que pensar un poco m\u00e1s [en] grande y cooperar entre los pa\u00edses. Y entrando entonces en una cooperaci\u00f3n con otros pa\u00edses, en vez de que cada pa\u00eds tenga su motor de repuesto, su \u201cno s\u00e9 qu\u00e9\u201d de repuesto, podemos tener un pool de repuestos que podemos compartir. Estamos hablando de recursos estrat\u00e9gicos. Hay que confiar entre los pa\u00edses [porque] esta soluci\u00f3n sale mucho m\u00e1s barata. Los pa\u00edses compran hoy en d\u00eda 14, 24, 36 aviones\u2026 no vale la pena tener un banco de prueba de motor [para ese tama\u00f1o de fuerza] porque hay que justificar [ante] el pueblo por qu\u00e9 [se] compra y gasta esa [cantidad] de plata.
