Pero, para quienes tambi\u00e9n tenemos intereses militares y aeron\u00e1uticos, la ciudad nos espera con un\u00a0museo\u00a0que\u00a0resulta f\u00e1cil de visitar\u00a0ya que se encuentra ubicado en la\u00a0c\u00e9ntrica esquina de <strong>avenida Vassilissis Sofias y Rizari<\/strong> (una cuadra y media al Oeste de la estaci\u00f3n\u00a0Evaggeliasmos\u00a0del\u00a0Metro ateniense).<\/p>\n<p>El museo tiene por objetivo la exhibici\u00f3n e investigaci\u00f3n de la guerra a lo largo de la historia de la humanidad, naturalmente dominadas por ilustraci\u00f3n de la trayectoria de las fuerzas armadas griegas. Dise\u00f1ado\u00a0bajo la direcci\u00f3n\u00a0el profesor\u00a0de la Universidad T\u00e9cnica Nacional de Atenas,\u00a0<strong>Thoukidides Valentis<\/strong>, el museo fue inaugurado el 18 de julio de 1975 por el Presidente de la Rep\u00fablica Hel\u00e9nica,\u00a0<strong>Constantine Tsatsos<\/strong>,\u00a0y su ministro de defensa nacional,\u00a0<strong>Evangelos Averoff-Tositsas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Alas hel\u00e9nicas en exhibici\u00f3n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Seg\u00fan Andy Marden, editor\u00a0de la secci\u00f3n \u00abOut of Service\u00bb en <a href=\"http:\/\/militaryaviationreview.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Military Aviation Review<\/a>, la\u00a0instituci\u00f3n incorpor\u00f3 sus primeras aeronaves\u00a0en la d\u00e9cada de su inauguraci\u00f3n. Primero habr\u00eda llegado el <strong>North American F-86D Sabre Dog<\/strong>\u00a0518404, representando al primer caza interceptor \u00abtodo tiempo\u00bb de la fuerza a\u00e9rea (oper\u00f3 entre 1961 y 1967). Lo interesante es que la m\u00e1quina intercambi\u00f3 secciones\u00a0de cola con el 516171\u00a0(que se conserva en el North East Air Museum de Sunderland,\u00a0Gran Breta\u00f1a) y luce la placa de llamado del 518319.<\/p>\n<p>El siguiente\u00a0aparato en incorporarse a la colecci\u00f3n fue el <strong>North American T-6G Texan<\/strong>\u00a032803, que se muestra con la matr\u00edcula que ten\u00eda asignada ante de su conversi\u00f3n (AT-6C 41-32803), e ilustra el principal entrenador de pilotos griegos entre 1947 y 1969, veterano tambi\u00e9n de la Guerra Civil Griega de 1946 a 1949. Por un lado, encontramos al\u00a0<strong>Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter<\/strong> 689071, representante del casi centenar y medio de ejemplares que Grecia adquiri\u00f3 de EE.UU., Ir\u00e1n, Jordania, Noruega y Holanda para operarlos entre 1965 y 2001, llegando a equipar a la escuadrilla acrob\u00e1tica \u00abNueva\u00a0Llama Griega\u00bb. A su derecha, por su parte, encontramos el\u00a0<strong>Republic F-84F Thunderstreak<\/strong> 537216, del cual 164 ejemplares de or\u00edgenes norteamericano, alem\u00e1n y holand\u00e9s\u00a0formaron la columna vertebral de la fuerza de ataque a\u00e9reo\u00a0entre\u00a01957\u00a0y\u00a01983.<\/p>\n<p>El \u00faltimo integrante de la muestra lleg\u00f3 a principios del Siglo XXI y se trata del\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"><strong>Bell OH-13S Sioux<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>ES-709, \u00fanica aeronave proveniente de la Aviaci\u00f3n del Ej\u00e9rcito Griego, donde el modelo oper\u00f3 entre 1961 y 1996.\u00a0En fecha no determinada, tambi\u00e9n se incorpor\u00f3\u00a0a la colecci\u00f3n del museo la que ser\u00eda\u00a0una r\u00e9plica del\u00a0<strong>Henri Farman\u00a050hp<\/strong> que, colgado del techo en el mismo sector donde se conserva el Bell OH-13, recuerda la participaci\u00f3n de ese modelo en las dos guerras de los Balcanes\u00a0(1912-1913) que precedieron a la I Guerra Mundial.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Orientaci\u00f3n al turista<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Cualquier spotter viajero que\u00a0visite Atenas y se aloje en su \u00e1rea metropolitana no puede\u00a0dejar de recorrer esta instituci\u00f3n y su exhibici\u00f3n de aeronaves tan representativas de la historia griega del Siglo XX.
