Coincidi\u00f3 con el primer\u00a0curso de estandarizaci\u00f3n de procedimientos para aviadores de combate (CEPAC), realizado a la par de los que tradicionalmente se dictaban en la Escuela de Caza, de El Plumerillo (Mendoza). Tambi\u00e9n contribuy\u00f3 a alcanzar una dotaci\u00f3n de treinta unidades que ese a\u00f1o superaron las 10.000 horas de vuelo\u00a0y permitieron la activaci\u00f3n de un segundo escuadr\u00f3n del modelo. Esta expansi\u00f3n de medios y misiones tambi\u00e9n llev\u00f3 a la reactivaci\u00f3n\u00a0de la\u00a0<strong>III Brigada A\u00e9rea<\/strong> en diciembre de aquel a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p>Si bien no contamos con informaci\u00f3n detallada a nivel de esta matr\u00edcula, es probable que el aparato haya tenido participaci\u00f3n intensa en el desarrollo de los segundo y tercer CEPACs, realizados en 1980 y 1981. Para ello, se adquirieron varios litros de pintura verde y marr\u00f3n en un almac\u00e9n de la Falkland Islands Company y se aplicaron improvisadamente sobre la parte superior del fuselaje. El vientre y las tapas del tren delantero se mantuvieron en su terminaci\u00f3n original metal natural; mientras que las\u00a0marcas de nacionalidad y la leyenda \u00abFUERZA A\u00c9REA En esa situaci\u00f3n los sorprendi\u00f3 una <strong>incursi\u00f3n de comandos brit\u00e1nicos<\/strong> que\u00a0el 15\u00a0de mayo de madrugada atacaron la remota\u00a0y precaria instalaci\u00f3n inutilizando todas las aeronaves presentes.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan una inspecci\u00f3n brit\u00e1nica realizada con posterioridad a la rendici\u00f3n del 14 de junio, los comandos del SAS lo inutilizaron al provocarle da\u00f1os por detonaciones de explosivos en los motores y la ra\u00edz de las alas. A diferencia de sus otro cinco compa\u00f1eros, que terminaron sus d\u00edas enterrados localmente o re-asignados como blancos en pol\u00edgonos de tiro de la Isla Gran Malvina, el A-529 fue\u00a0transferido a la base RAF Stanley (Puerto Argentino) en una operaci\u00f3n en la cual participaron\u00a0el buque \u00abSand Shore\u00bb y helic\u00f3pteros Chinook del 18 Squadron. Balch).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Poco tiempo despu\u00e9s, el ministerio de defensa brit\u00e1nico decidi\u00f3 cederlo al <strong>Falkland Islands Museum<\/strong>\u00a0de Puerto Argentino, motivo por el cual voluntarios\u00a0de la guarnici\u00f3n\u00a0militar local pusieron manos a la obra para restaurarlo de cara a su\u00a0exhibici\u00f3n\u00a0est\u00e1tica. Incluso recuper\u00f3 el esquema de pintura aplicado a su llegada a Malvinas en abril de 1982,\u00a0aunque con errores tales como que la matr\u00edcula no fue sobrepintada, que la tipograf\u00eda de las marcas no corresponden al original o que el vientre fue re-pintado en color celeste.\u00a0Pero, muy elegantes y considerados con los ca\u00eddos en combate, los brit\u00e1nicos no dejaron de reconocer al encargado del avi\u00f3n manteniendo su nombre en el lateral izquierdo de la cabina.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Destino final: Mount Pleasant<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As\u00ed las cosas, en plena preparaci\u00f3n del traslado al reci\u00e9n terminado complejo de Mount Pleasant, el comando de las <strong>Fuerzas Brit\u00e1nicas de las Islas Malvinas<\/strong> (BFFI, o British Forces Falkland Islands) se encontr\u00f3 con\u00a0dos aeronaves que no pod\u00edan quedar abandonadas en\u00a0RAF Stanley: El IA-58 A-529 y el UH-1H Huey AE-410 (del Ej\u00e9rcito Argentino) que tambi\u00e9n hab\u00eda sido restaurado en la capital. Tal como hab\u00eda determinado \u00abla superioridad\u00bb, a su llegada a Mount Pleasant la m\u00e1quina fue trasladada al\u00a0\u00e1rea ocupada por la 1435 Flight, un conjunto de\u00a016\u00a0<strong>refugios a\u00e9reos reforzados<\/strong>\u00a0que se encuentran ubicados en el extremo Noreste del complejo.\u00a0Almacenado concretamente en el shelter #6 (tercero al Sur de la cabecera de pista 23), el aparato fue visto y fotografiado varias veces por visitantes institucionales y del p\u00fablico isle\u00f1o, ya sea en jornadas de puertas abiertas\u00a0o en visitas privadas.<\/p>\n<p>Una de las \u00faltimas observaciones data del mes de mayo de 1998, cuando el fot\u00f3grafo Tom Gibbons asegura\u00a0que <em>\u00abse encontraba en una pieza\u00a0[y] presente con la 1435 Flight, aunque la condici\u00f3n del avi\u00f3n no era muy buena\u00bb<\/em>.
