Dos de ellos pertenecieron a LAC L\u00edneas A\u00e9reas Canarias (EC-DXU y EC-DYC) el tercero fue alquilado por AVIACO (EC-AZK) para la temporada de verano del 65.  <\/p>\n<p>En diciembre de 1956 fue registrado como G-AOYO, siendo su numero de construcci\u00f3n el 264. Su primer vuelo lo realiz\u00f3 el 18 de Marzo de 1958 en Weybridge-Inglaterra, siendo adquirido el 3 de Abril del mismo a\u00f1o por BEA, British European Airways, y bautizado como \u201cR.M.A. Adam Smith\u201d.  <\/p>\n<p>El 18 de julio de 1967 durante un vuelo de entrenamiento para los pilotos de Cyprus Airways sufri\u00f3 una salida de pista en Glasgow golpeando contra una valla. Fue llevado a Marshalls of Cambridge para ser reparado y tiempo despu\u00e9s volvi\u00f3 al servicio.  <\/p>\n<p>El 30 de Mayo de 1968 se vendi\u00f3 a BKS Air Transport Ltd, y dos a\u00f1os mas tarde es transferido a Northeast Airlines debido al cambio de nombre de la compa\u00f1\u00eda. A su vez, el 1 de Abril de 1974 es transferido a British Airways, producto de la fusi\u00f3n de ambas empresas, y continu\u00f3 volando las rutas de la ex Northeast Airlines.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<table border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" bgcolor=\"#c0c0c0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<div align=\"center\">Espacio publicitario<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<div align=\"center\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-5501201466418085\";\n\/* Anuncio texto WP *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"4059859780\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<p>El 10 de Junio de 1980 en el aeropuerto de Dalcross Inverness Escocia tiene otro accidente durante el aterrizaje al no extenderse la pata del tren izquierdo. La m\u00e1quina sufri\u00f3 da\u00f1os menores, que fueron reparados en dicho aeropuerto.  <\/p>\n<p>El 28 de marzo de 1982 realiz\u00f3 el \u00faltimo vuelo para British Airways cubriendo la ruta Orkney \u2013 Glasgow. Pocos d\u00edas m\u00e1s tarde, el 8 de Abril de 1982, hizo el vuelo de traslado al aer\u00f3dromo de Rhoose en Cardiff, donde qued\u00f3 almacenado. Hasta ese momento la aeronave contabilizaba 36.926 horas de vuelo y 34.546 ciclos.  <\/p>\n<p>Casi dos a\u00f1os mas tarde, el 28 de enero de 1984 fue vendido a BAF British Air Ferries, realizando el vuelo ferry desde Rhoose a Rochford, Southend. En febrero comienz\u00f3 a volar para BAF, siendo el primer Viscount en la flota. La compa\u00f1\u00eda lo bautiz\u00f3 \u201cViscount Montgomery\u201d.  <\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.gacetaeronautica.com\/gaceta\/wp-101\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/ecdxu2.jpg?w=1140\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">El EC-DXU en el a\u00f1o 2005 aun con los colores de L\u00edneas A\u00e9reas Canarias, en su antigua ubicaci\u00f3n el aeropuerto de Los Rodeos \u2013 Tenerife Norte (foto: Christian Amado).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Al a\u00f1o siguiente, y rozando el final de verano septentrional de 1985, el avi\u00f3n es trasladado desde Teesside a Rochford el 16 de septiembre, realizando el vuelo ferry VF151P. En Rochford lo repintaron con los t\u00edtulos de LAC &#8211; L\u00edneas A\u00e9reas Canarias. Pocos d\u00edas m\u00e1s tarde, el 23 de Septiembre de 1985, fue enviado a Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ya con los colores y t\u00edtulos de LAC, pero aun lleva el registro ingl\u00e9s G-AOYO. La configuraci\u00f3n interior del avi\u00f3n era de 81 asientos. Finalmente el 25 de Septiembre se incorpor\u00f3 oficialmente a LAC con registro EC-DXU, bautiz\u00e1ndolo \u201cIsla de Tenerife\u201d, aunque posteriormente se le cambi\u00f3 el nombre por \u201cIsla de Gran Canaria\u201d.  <\/p>\n<p>La aeronave en principio se us\u00f3 para vuelos charter interinsulares, b\u00e1sicamente conectando los aeropuertos m\u00e1s tur\u00edsticos, La Palma, Tenerife, Lanzarote y Fuerteventura, pero tambi\u00e9n volaron con excursiones a Funchal, en la isla portuguesa de Madeira, o a Marrakech en Marruecos. El Corte Ingles tambi\u00e9n utiliz\u00f3 las aeronaves de la aerol\u00ednea canaria para llevar a sus clientes desde Tenerife a Gran Canaria, para comprar en la \u00fanica tienda que hab\u00eda en las islas en esos a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse\" id=\"table2\" border=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<th align=\"center\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-5501201466418085\";\n\/* rectangular WP *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3799649617\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 60;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<p>En Mayo de 1989 LAC cuya situaci\u00f3n financiera empeoraba recibi\u00f3 nuevos inversores, algunos de ellos directivos de Spantax. Se adquirieron MD-83, el primero de ellos fue el EC-EFU, para comenzar operaciones charter desde las Islas Canarias a Europa, que luego se alternaron con rutas entre las Canarias y la Pen\u00ednsula. En su mejor momento coincidiendo con el boom tur\u00edstico de principio de los 90, la flota MD lleg\u00f3 a unir tambi\u00e9n las Islas Baleares con destinos europeos.  <\/p>\n<p>Los dos Viscount fueron retirados del servicio nada m\u00e1s llegar los MD-80s, siendo preservados en el Aeropuerto de Tenerife Norte. El Vickers Viscount EC-DYC fue expuesto durante unos a\u00f1os en una discoteca en Santa Cruz hasta que finalmente fue vendido como chatarra, sobreviviendo \u00fanicamente el EC-DXU.  <\/p>\n<p>En el 2003 despu\u00e9s de varios a\u00f1os de abandono y deterioro por los efectos de estar expuesto a la intemperie, fue repintado. Cuatro a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s lo vuelven a repintar y es trasladado a otro sector del aeropuerto de Los Rodeos.  <\/p>\n<p>El 4 de Octubre del 2007 es utilizado por el Servicio de Extinci\u00f3n de incendios (SEI) en el simulacro de incendio \u201cNIVARIA 2007\u201d. Desde Septiembre del 2011 es usado por el Centro de Ense\u00f1anza T\u00e9cnica de Aeron\u00e1utica de Canarias (CETAC) para la formaci\u00f3n de nuevos TMA.
