Tambi\u00e9n fue complicado para \u00e9stas empezar a operar desde cero, sin mayor conocimiento del complicado negocio aerocomercial.<\/p>\n<p>El mantenimiento siempre fue un punto crucial de la organizaci\u00f3n de cualquier empresa, y las nuevas no previeron tener talleres propios, por lo que estos trabajos se tercerizaron, por lo general en talleres de Centro Am\u00e9rica. No ten\u00edan capitales aqu\u00ed para encarar eso, ni siquiera asociadas entre s\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>Pero hab\u00eda un taller local que pod\u00eda hacerse cargo de la mayor parte de los trabajos que requer\u00edan las nuevas empresas. El problema era que este taller era de su principal competidora, Aerol\u00edneas Argentinas, y en los primeros tiempos no fue utilizado.<\/p>\n<p>Un d\u00eda, en 1960, Austral decidi\u00f3 que Aerol\u00edneas era la mejor opci\u00f3n para atender a sus Curtiss, y mand\u00f3 uno de ellos a Ezeiza para hacer una recorrida general. En el fondo, era una operaci\u00f3n normal entre empresas normales, eso se hac\u00eda y se sigue haciendo entre las l\u00edneas a\u00e9reas de todo el mundo.<\/p>\n<p>Pero alg\u00fan costo adicional tuvo para la empresa privada contratar los servicios de la estatal, porque \u00e9sta, el 10 de marzo de 1960, en coincidencia con el fin del trabajo y la entrega de la nave, public\u00f3 un aviso en los diarios con una gran foto de la m\u00e1quina con t\u00edtulos de Austral, dentro del hangar de Ezeiza en el que pod\u00eda verse perfectamente el cartel identificador de Aerol\u00edneas Argentinas.<\/p>\n<p>El texto del aviso era conciliador, hasta usaba argumentos de la promoci\u00f3n de Austral cuando dec\u00eda qu\u00e9 \u00e9sta era \u201cun aut\u00e9ntico esfuerzo por el progreso del sur argentino\u201d, pero el mensaje de fondo era expl\u00edcito: los talleres estaban entre los m\u00e1s importantes del mundo y estaban avalados por 35 a\u00f1os de experiencia.<\/p>\n<p>La conclusi\u00f3n, a cargo del lector, era que Austral no ten\u00eda talleres. Un buen golpe a la empresa sure\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>Y otra conclusi\u00f3n sobre la matem\u00e1tica de Aerol\u00edneas Argentinas. Al pie del aviso sostiene que 31 a\u00f1os de experiencia respaldan sus servicios, pero en el cuerpo sostiene que sus talleres est\u00e1n avalados por 35 a\u00f1os de experiencia.
