Si se analizan los tiempos en escala para los Boeing 737 se encuentran varios ejemplos de quince o veinte minutos, mientras que para los 727 no bajan de treinta (colecci\u00f3n PLP).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>La f\u00f3rmula de las low cost parece ser conocida: aviones impecables, aeropuertos secundarios, m\u00e1xima utilizaci\u00f3n de las aeronaves, personal no sindicalizado, escalas breves&#8230; \u00daltimamente est\u00e1 en todos los diarios, que repiten hasta el cansancio que lograr esto es sin\u00f3nimo de eficiencia.<\/p>\n<p>Cada \u00edtem tiene su explicaci\u00f3n profunda y, entre ellos, la cuesti\u00f3n de las escalas es un tema importante para lograr que los aviones est\u00e9n m\u00e1s tiempo en el aire.<\/p>\n<p>En la actualidad los horarios de las l\u00edneas a\u00e9reas argentinas registran tiempos de escala variables, pero que no bajan de 35 minutos en el caso de los vuelos circulares y algo m\u00e1s en los terminales. No est\u00e1 mal.<\/p>\n<p>Pero si revisamos viejas publicidades con horarios de servicios encontraremos que, hace d\u00e9cadas, tanto Aerol\u00edneas Argentinas como Austral, volando con los jets normales de esa \u00e9poca eran capaces de programar y cumplir escalas en las que el avi\u00f3n estaba solamente entre quince y veinte minutos en el suelo, la mitad del valor standard actual de esas mismas empresas.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfC\u00f3mo lo lograban? Hay algunas explicaciones parciales.<\/p>\n<p>Los aeropuertos ten\u00edan, en general menos tr\u00e1fico, lo que se traduc\u00eda en menos tiempo de rodaje y menos facilidades que compartir con otros operadores (combustible, movimiento de equipajes). No hab\u00eda mangas, lo que permit\u00eda mover m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido a los pasajeros (el tiempo perdido es un problema real de las mangas). Hac\u00eda tres escalas intermedias, de veinte minutos cada una, en las que, adem\u00e1s de mover pasajeros, que no eran pocos, se cargaba combustible (colecci\u00f3n PLP).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>El sistema funcion\u00f3 por muchos a\u00f1os sin mayores sobresaltos, hasta que un d\u00eda, exactamente el 20 de noviembre de 1992, el Boeing 737\/200 LV-JNE se incendi\u00f3 tratando de despegar en el aeropuerto de San Luis, sin v\u00edctimas fatales.<\/p>\n<p>La investigaci\u00f3n que hizo la JIAAC, en aquel entonces, fue lapidaria para la planificaci\u00f3n de muchos vuelos que las l\u00edneas locales planteaban como normales desde el fondo de los tiempos.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan el an\u00e1lisis de las causas, en palabras de la Junta: \u201cfueron factores contribuyentes: programaci\u00f3n de vuelos con escalas de tiempo reducido y etapa corta en el tramo COR-UIS que posiblemente no permiti\u00f3 la necesaria refrigeraci\u00f3n de las ruedas\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Un p\u00e1rrafo m\u00e1s adelante, en las recomendaciones al operador agreg\u00f3: \u201cprever en la programaci\u00f3n de vuelos con etapas cortas y peque\u00f1os lapsos de detenci\u00f3n, los medios para el enfriamiento de las ruedas\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Las restricciones en los manuales de operaci\u00f3n de los aviones siguen vigentes, y la verdad nos muestra que ya no se hacen en el pa\u00eds escalas tan breves. \u00bfQu\u00e9 har\u00e1n las futuras low cost?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Uno de los argumentos m\u00e1s utilizados por los que tratan de explicar los secretos de las low cost es que tienen la eficiencia necesaria para hacer escalas muy breves.
