Es una cuesti\u00f3n sentimental y gremial, que nada tiene que ver con la administraci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Quiz\u00e1s por esto es tambi\u00e9n una empresa bastante aislada. Tiene un \u00fanico due\u00f1o, no tiene asociaciones m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de Skyteam, no tiene hubs fuera del pa\u00eds, no cotiza en bolsas, y por eso no necesita presentar balances.<\/p>\n<p>Su presente es aceptable para lo que estamos acostumbrados, casi bueno. Tiene tasas importantes de crecimiento sostenido en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, utiliza una flota bastante razonable, y est\u00e1 incorporando nuevas rutas con \u00e9xito.<\/p>\n<h2>La actualidad de la regi\u00f3n<\/h2>\n<p>Hay varios tipos de empresas a\u00e9reas en la regi\u00f3n. Algunas tienen m\u00e1s aspiraciones que otras. Dentro de su l\u00f3gica de empresa estatal, no tiene sentido ninguna asociaci\u00f3n de capitales, ni tomar el control de otras empresas ni establecer hubs fuera del pa\u00eds. Puede decirse que Skyteam y algunos c\u00f3digos compartidos son el l\u00edmite a este respecto.<\/p>\n<p>Y en este punto es bueno mirar el mapa. Nuestro pa\u00eds est\u00e1 lejos de todo. Aerol\u00edneas\/Austral nunca podr\u00e1 tener un verdadero hub internacional como los del hemisferio norte, porque est\u00e1 al final del hemisferio sur. Deber\u00e1 planear su acci\u00f3n sobre la base del tr\u00e1fico dom\u00e9stico y regional. Es un mercado que cada d\u00eda se muestra m\u00e1s competitivo, pero es el \u00fanico mercado genuino que hay a mano y que se puede compaginar con el concepto de empresa estatal, un detalle no menor.<\/p>\n<p>Las posibilidades de volar desde Argentina a Europa o Estados Unidos est\u00e1n limitadas a los vuelos punto a punto desde nuestro pa\u00eds. No tiene mucho sentido pensar en un gran hub, porque ser\u00eda llevar pasajeros hacia el sur para volar luego hacia el norte. LAN-Airlines lo comprendi\u00f3, y est\u00e1 migrando lentamente su hub del Pac\u00edfico de Santiago a Lima.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00ed las cosas, Aerol\u00edneas\/Austral puede tener tr\u00e1fico genuino con los pa\u00edses lim\u00edtrofes, y podr\u00eda, quiz\u00e1s, establecer un hub en el norte del pa\u00eds, desde el que \u2014utilizando los MAX\u2014 se podr\u00eda llegar a Miami, captando pasajeros de Paraguay, Bolivia y el sur de Brasil. La geograf\u00eda no da para mucho m\u00e1s.<\/p>\n<h2>La empresa estatal<\/h2>\n<p>\u00bfEs viable una empresa estatal en la actualidad latinoamericana o mundial? Todo parece indicar que no. Los pocos ejemplos que tenemos (BoA, Conviasa, Cubana, TAME) est\u00e1n limitados al mercado de sus pa\u00edses \u2014lo que es razonable para este modelo\u2014 y evolucionan de acuerdo con un modelo m\u00e1s pol\u00edtico que comercial. Ninguna presenta balances tradicionales, pero todo parece indicar que su capacidad de financiaci\u00f3n y crecimiento es limitada, y est\u00e1 m\u00e1s ligada a los vaivenes pol\u00edticos que a otra cosa. Quiz\u00e1s a BoA le vaya mejor y a TAME peor, pero eso no es lo importante. Su ley es el d\u00eda a d\u00eda, y no se conoce un plan de negocios que signifique cambiar el status de la compa\u00f1\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Todo parece indicar que esta es la realidad de todas las empresas estatales\u2026 Salvo en el Medio Oriente.<\/p>\n<h2>La planificaci\u00f3n del futuro<\/h2>\n<p>Las l\u00edneas a\u00e9reas que funcionan bien planifican su futuro con mucha anticipaci\u00f3n. Las previsiones de flota son la parte m\u00e1s cr\u00edtica, porque los aviones demandan a\u00f1os de fabricaci\u00f3n y las financiaciones son complejas.<\/p>\n<p>A la hora de dise\u00f1ar una flota, hay dos tipos de empresas. Las que utilizan aviones nuevos y las que se conforman con usados. Aerol\u00edneas\/Austral, a esta altura de su historia, integra el primer grupo, raz\u00f3n por la cual deber\u00eda estar pensando con muchos a\u00f1os de anticipaci\u00f3n, pero no es as\u00ed. Si bien la empresa tiene pendientes de entrega una decena de Boeing 737MAX, se trata de la culminaci\u00f3n de un pedido hecho hace a\u00f1os. Aerol\u00edneas\/Austral est\u00e1 en una buena posici\u00f3n competitiva para pelear el mercado dom\u00e9stico y regional, tal como est\u00e1 hoy, porque ya tiene la clientela, tiene una flota adecuada, conoce las rutas y tiene asignados los slots. Su punto d\u00e9bil es la estructura de costos, que son la de una vieja empresa tradicional, poco eficiente, con mucho personal y sin mucha disciplina en este sentido. Se presume que los competidores que vendr\u00e1n ser\u00e1n m\u00e1s cuidadosos en materia de costos, y esto ser\u00e1 un punto a ajustar.<\/p>\n<p>Los gremios de la empresa van a oponerse a cualquier cambio basado en la eficiencia, pero esos mismos gremios van a tener que encontrar un punto de equilibrio entre sus costumbres laborales, los convenios colectivos que van a proponer las nuevas empresas, y lo que requiera Aerol\u00edneas\/Austral para no desaparecer en la puja competitiva.<\/p>\n<p>Una cuesti\u00f3n inevitable ser\u00e1n los slots, sobre todo en Buenos Aires. All\u00ed Aerol\u00edneas\/Austral corre con ventaja.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfSer\u00e1 as\u00ed el futuro?<\/h2>\n<p>En junio de 2017 empez\u00f3 a volar entre Barcelona y Buenos Aires una nueva aerol\u00ednea del grupo IAG, Level, con tres frecuencias semanales y un esquema de bajas tarifas. Con buenas ventas, las frecuencias se aumentaron a cinco en octubre.<\/p>\n<p>En noviembre Aerol\u00edneas Argentinas cancel\u00f3 algunos vuelos a Barcelona, aduciendo quites de colaboraci\u00f3n de los trabajadores, que a su vez declararon que el problema era la mala planificaci\u00f3n empresaria. La ruta qued\u00f3 servida con tres vuelos semanales, y recientemente se anunci\u00f3 que a partir del 1\u00ba de febrero se cancelar\u00e1 definitivamente por \u00abrazones comerciales ligadas a la estrategia de rentabilidad y optimizaci\u00f3n de recursos\u00bb.
