En concreto, fue en 1971 cuando financiados por el Ministerio de Agricultura, se compraron los primeros aparatos, que llegaron en febrero de ese a\u00f1o a la Base A\u00e9rea de Getafe (Madrid).<\/p>\n<p>Tras estar brevemente asignados al 803\u00ba Escuadr\u00f3n, que los utiliz\u00f3 en misiones SAR, a partir del siguiente a\u00f1o se destinaron a las labores de extinci\u00f3n de incendios, en concreto los forestales. Dado el buen resultado, en enero de 1973 se decidi\u00f3 la compra de nuevos ejemplares y todos pasaron a ubicarse en su actual destino, la madrile\u00f1a Base A\u00e9rea de Torrej\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>En agosto de 1989, el Ministerio de Agricultura firm\u00f3 la repotenciaci\u00f3n de la flota, adquiriendo 15 kits a Canadair para la remotorizaci\u00f3n de los CL-215 (originalmente equipados con motores de pist\u00f3n). La modernizaci\u00f3n incluy\u00f3 el cambio por los turboh\u00e9lices Pratt &amp; Whitney Canada PW123AF, que dieron paso a la actual variante CL-215T. En total, en dicho convenio, se modernizaron 5 unidades de la antigua flota del 43 Grupo, destinando el resto de motores a 10 aparatos de nueva factura.<\/p>\n<h2>La Unidad Militar de Emergencias<\/h2>\n<p>En 2005, el Gobierno socialista de Rodr\u00edguez Zapatero decidi\u00f3 la creaci\u00f3n de la Unidad Militar de Emergencias (UME). El plan de inversi\u00f3n para la puesta en marcha de esta importante iniciativa preve\u00eda muy optimistamente la compra de nueve modernos CL-415.<\/p>\n<p>La nueva Unidad integr\u00f3 en su organizaci\u00f3n al 43 Grupo, aunque finalmente las compras de CL-415 con presupuestos de la UME se limitaron a tres aviones.<\/p>\n<p>Reci\u00e9n en noviembre de 2013 se incorpor\u00f3 un flamante CL-415 procedente de la planta de construcci\u00f3n sita en la canadiense localidad de Dorval (Qu\u00e9bec). Matriculado como UD.14-04\/43-34, este aparato fue probado y aceptado en Canad\u00e1 por una tripulaci\u00f3n del 43 Grupo, y fue adquirido con fondos del Ministerio de Agricultura y Pesca, Alimentaci\u00f3n y Medio Ambiente (MAPAMA). Cabe destacar que la actividad del 43 Grupo durante el a\u00f1o 2017 alcanz\u00f3 casi 2.000 misiones, con unas 4.700 horas de vuelo, de las cuales 2.500 horas fueron volando misiones de extinci\u00f3n de incendios.<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente el 43 Grupo cuenta con unos 160 uniformados, de los cualesalgo m\u00e1s de un tercio son pilotos, unos 60, a los que se suman unos 30 mec\u00e1nicos de vuelo.Los otros 70 miembros, en su mayor\u00eda son mec\u00e1nicos del Escuadr\u00f3n de Material, responsables del mantenimiento de primer escal\u00f3n y algunas tareas de segundo escal\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Todos estos n\u00fameros se basan en la importante cantidad de horas voladas anualmente con las 18 aeronaves en servicio. Vale la pena recordar que estos aviones tambi\u00e9n cumplen misiones SAR como rol alternativo de uso. Esto implica la disponibilidad las 24 horas de cada uno de los 7 d\u00edas de la semana de una tripulaci\u00f3n compuesta por los dos pilotos, el mec\u00e1nico de vuelo y dos observadores.<\/p>\n<p>La actividad de los aparatos del 43 Grupo es muy intensa, con largu\u00edsimas jornadas de extinci\u00f3n con duraciones de hasta 9 horas diarias, que se suelen dividir en dos periodos. La operaci\u00f3n habitual implica cargar de agua los tanques, despegar, lanzar el agua (cada lanzamiento es diferente y especial), volver a aterrizar o acuatizar, recargar, etc.<\/p>\n<h2>Los aviones<\/h2>\n<p>La principal diferencia entre ambos modelos, que son designados por el Ej\u00e9rcito del Aire como UD.13 y UD.14, es que el CL-415 cuenta con una m\u00e1s moderna avi\u00f3nica, que incluye un cockpit (cabina de pilotaje) dotado de pantallas multifunci\u00f3n y que en la parte inferior de su fuselaje lleva cuatro compuertas, en lugar de las dos de los CL-215T, para arrojar de forma m\u00e1s flexible los casi 6.000 l. de agua con los que se apagan los incendios. La pr\u00f3xima normativa que marcar\u00e1 la UE para la adaptaci\u00f3n al Cielo \u00danico Europeo indicar\u00e1 como mandatorio dotar a las aeronaves de una avi\u00f3nica mejorada.<\/p>\n<h2>La lucha contra el fuego<\/h2>\n<p>El d\u00eda a d\u00eda del Grupo se divide en dos claros periodos:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Servicios Fuera de Campa\u00f1a: Se desarrolla entre el oto\u00f1o y la primavera desde la propia Base A\u00e9rea de Torrej\u00f3n.<\/li>\n<li>Servicios de Campa\u00f1a: De junio a octubre, los meses que est\u00e1n activas las alertas de incendio.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>En el primer per\u00edodo se realizan las tareas de mantenimiento de la flota y adiestramiento de las tripulaciones. Adem\u00e1s de ello 2 anfibios permanecen en alarma a una hora de despegue del aviso, ante un eventual requerimiento SAR.<\/p>\n<p>Durante la temporada de primavera-verano, el Servicio de Campa\u00f1a, se despliega personal y aeronaves en varias bases del EA, como Albacete, M\u00e1laga, Pollensa, Salamanca, Santiago de Compostela, Talavera y Zaragoza, dando una cobertura a todo el territorio espa\u00f1ol.<\/p>\n<p>La preparaci\u00f3n de cada campa\u00f1a estival exige de una gran planificaci\u00f3n por anticipado, tanto de material de vuelo y apoyo, como de personal del EA. Esto significa disponer de al menos 52 pilotos y 26 mec\u00e1nicos de vuelo. Los comienzos de estas actividades fueron en Francia en 2003, pero tambi\u00e9n hubo despliegues a Bulgaria, Grecia, Israel, Italia, Marruecos y Portugal.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"display: inline !important; float: none; background-color: transparent; color: #333333; font-family: -apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 22.4px; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px; word-wrap: break-word;\">Pr\u00e1cticamente todos los a\u00f1os se realiza un <\/span>despliegue habitual a Portugal, lo que merece hacer foco en ello. Dados los amplios y virulentos incendios de los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, toda ayuda es necesaria para frenar el desastre ecol\u00f3gico que son los fuegos estivales portugueses. Durante el verano las misiones a Portugal son frecuentes y desde las bases linderas con el pa\u00eds, o sea: Salamanca, Talavera y Santiago. O directamente desde los aer\u00f3dromos de la For\u00e7a A\u00e9rea Portuguesa. As\u00ed, el pasado 2017 un quinto de las horas de vuelo fueron sobre los cielos portugueses.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfY el futuro?<\/h2>\n<p>Est\u00e1 claro que el intenso uso y la antig\u00fcedad de la flota deber\u00eda conducir a la renovaci\u00f3n del material, o al menos a su modernizaci\u00f3n. En este punto Vicking Air, que se hizo cargo de determinados productos de Bombardier (Canadair), propone una modernizaci\u00f3n de la flota al est\u00e1ndar Enhanced Aerial Firefighter (EAF).<\/p>\n<p>El upgrade consiste en la instalaci\u00f3n en los CL-215T de una moderna avi\u00f3nica, adaptado materia de comunicaci\u00f3n y navegaci\u00f3n a lo pr\u00f3ximamente requerido por la Uni\u00f3n Eeuropea. En la nueva versi\u00f3n EAF la presentaci\u00f3n y gesti\u00f3n de los datos, am\u00e9n de las comunicaciones, se lleva a cabo desde varias pantallas multifunci\u00f3n.
