Lejos quedar\u00e1 la d\u00e9cada de los a\u00f1os 70, cuando este cl\u00e1sico de los cielos entr\u00f3 a formar parte del inventario de la fuerza a\u00e9rea espa\u00f1ola (ver: <a title=\"Texto de Javier Barb\u00e9\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gacetaeronautica.com\/gaceta\/wp-101\/?p=1133\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El C-130 Hercules en el Ejercito del Aire espa\u00f1ol<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>El A400M lleva dos a\u00f1os en servicio y est\u00e1 tomando el relevo gradualmente. Conforme a la planificaci\u00f3n establecida va aumentando sus capacidades de forma ininterrumpida desde la recepci\u00f3n del primer aparato en Diciembre de 2016. Gaceta Aeron\u00e1utica ha compartido una ma\u00f1ana con los integrantes del Ala 31, presenciando la preparaci\u00f3n de uno de los vuelos que actualmente se est\u00e1n realizando en colaboraci\u00f3n con el CLAEX (Centro Log\u00edstico de Armamento y Experimentaci\u00f3n) y bajo supervisi\u00f3n del MACOM (Mando A\u00e9reo de Combate) para la certificaci\u00f3n de las nuevas capacidades del A400M.<\/p>\n<h2>Reabastecimiento en vuelo con Eurofighter<\/h2>\n<p>En estas semanas se est\u00e1 realizando el programa de pruebas para certificar las operaciones de reabastecimiento en vuelo (AAR) del Eurofighter. No olvidemos que el F-18 Hornet ya est\u00e1 habilitado para ello, habi\u00e9ndose realizado dicha certificaci\u00f3n por parte de Airbus con aviones F-18 del Ejercito del Aire asignados al CLAEX. Queda patente de esta manera el enorme peso espec\u00edfico que est\u00e1 llevando Espa\u00f1a en todo lo referente a las capacidades de AAR del A400M, siendo en esta ocasi\u00f3n el Ejercito del Aire el que lidera de forma totalmente aut\u00f3noma esta campa\u00f1a. En esta l\u00ednea es de destacar que la Luftwaffe ha desplegado uno de sus A400M a Zaragoza para participar en el proceso y as\u00ed poder aprovechar los vuelos de los Eurofighter espa\u00f1oles, al objeto de certificar su flota. A diferencia del Hercules el A400M no requiere la presencia de personal en las ventanillas laterales de la aeronave para supervisar la operaci\u00f3n, todo puede ser monitorizado a trav\u00e9s de las mencionadas c\u00e1maras.<\/p>\n<p>Pods fabricados por la compa\u00f1\u00eda Cobham y suministrados por Airbus (ver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cobham.com\/mission-systems\/air-to-air-refuelling\/hose-and-drogue-systems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cobham Hose and Drogue Systems<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>La denominaci\u00f3n TK.23 es por tanto un poco \u201cartificial\u201d ya que realmente todas las aeronaves tienen la capacidad AAR. El avi\u00f3n est\u00e1 preparado para instalar los kits de repostaje en tres puntos, dos en los extremos de las alas y un tercero en la rampa trasera, adecuado para reabastecimiento de aviones de gran tama\u00f1o (transportes, tanqueros, VIP, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>Otra particularidad que evidencia la mejora respecto del eterno KC-130 es la capacidad del A400M en cuanto a autonom\u00eda y capacidad de trasvase de combustible. Toda la campa\u00f1a se est\u00e1 realizando \u00fanicamente con los tanques internos de combustible del avi\u00f3n, no siendo necesaria la instalaci\u00f3n de tanques auxiliares suplementarios como los que normalmente llevaba el KC-130. Si bien todos los sistemas son interoperables y conformes a la <i>STANAG 3447 AIR-TO-AIR (AERIAL) REFUELLING EQUIPMENT: PROBE-DROGUE INTERFACE CHARACTERISTICS<\/i>, es preciso verificar todo en operaciones a\u00e9reas reales.<\/p>\n<p>Por otra parte no debe olvidarse que el Ejercito del Aire define, mantiene y actualiza sus procedimientos internos, siendo en esta campa\u00f1a cuando se extraen las conclusiones y se plantean las propuestas para que se formalicen los procedimientos e instrucciones propias de las operaciones AAR con el A400M.<\/p>\n<p>En ese punto es preciso destacar la inestimable labor del CLAEX, unidad que se ha hecho imprescindible durante las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas y que permite sacar el m\u00e1ximo rendimiento de los sistemas que opera el Ejercito del Aire.<\/p>\n<p>En cuanto a las operaciones de reabastecimiento propiamente dichas, la envolvente de vuelo del A400 en misiones de AAR es diferente a la del H\u00e9rcules, operando a m\u00e1s altura y m\u00e1s velocidad. Esto hace que los cazas se encuentren en una zona de trabajo m\u00e1s confortable, reduciendo riesgos y aumentando tanto la eficacia como la eficiencia del proceso.<\/p>\n<h2>Los siguientes pasos<\/h2>\n<p>Tal y como se ha indicado al comienzo del art\u00edculo, el proceso de incorporaci\u00f3n del A400M es imparable y permitir\u00e1 la retirada gradual del servicio de los H\u00e9rcules. Actualmente en el Ala 31 coexisten algo m\u00e1s que dos aviones, se trata de dos culturas diferentes, un sistema estadounidense dise\u00f1ado en los a\u00f1os 50 frente a un sistema europeo concebido en el siglo XXI. El esfuerzo que realiza todo el personal integrante de esta unidad es colosal; mantener y operar estas dos plataformas al mismo tiempo requiere una dedicaci\u00f3n y compromiso que poco podemos imaginar los que \u201cvemos la faena desde el tendido\u201d.
