El avi\u00f3n no fue una excepci\u00f3n y sigue generando nuevas categor\u00edas de bagajes.<\/p>\n<p>Durante muchos siglos los animales de silla fueron la base del transporte de personas, y las alforjas, en variantes muy diversas porque no era lo mismo un equino, un cam\u00e9lido o un elefante, fueron la norma. No estaban pensadas para grandes pesos y vol\u00famenes, porque la capacidad de carga de las bestias era una limitaci\u00f3n importante.<\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s vinieron los carruajes y los buques, que permitieron llevar ba\u00fales, que dieron lugar a las primeras cosas que hoy llamar\u00edamos valijas o maletas, que se adaptaban bien a esos medios.<\/p>\n<p>A principios del siglo XX los equipajes, con variantes muy grandes de calidad y ornamentaci\u00f3n, eran fundamentalmente de madera y cuero, con herrajes met\u00e1licos, lo que no quita que los emigrantes de la tercera clase pudieran usar cualquier otra cosa, a veces alforjas pensadas para otros usos o bolsas. Adem\u00e1s, dadas las caracter\u00edsticas de la ropa elegante de la \u00e9poca, hab\u00eda verdaderos roperos para viajes, donde las prendas se colgaban de perchas. Hab\u00eda que cambiar.<\/p>\n<p>La contienda hab\u00eda aportado algunos nuevos materiales, como las telas impermeables livianas, usadas en el equipaje militar, los cierres de cremallera y muchas t\u00e9cnicas textiles. Los fabricantes de marroquiner\u00eda se enfocaron a ellos. Ahora las valijas para avi\u00f3n eran fundamentalmente de tela, con refuerzos de cuero y cierres de cremallera. Llev\u00f3 un tiempo lograr modelos eficientes.<\/p>\n<p>El paso siguiente lo dieron las l\u00edneas a\u00e9reas, que promediando los a\u00f1os cincuenta tomaron la costumbre de regalar a sus pasajeros valijitas de mano con el logo de la empresa. Por supuesto, era equipaje liviano, fundamentalmente de tela con cremalleras.
