Ubicado en el extremo sudoeste del aer\u00f3dromo civil de Hendersonville, el <strong>Western North Carolina Air Museum<\/strong>\u00a0(WNCAM) busca ser reconocido como un\u00a0<em>\u201clugar para mostrarles a los j\u00f3venes c\u00f3mo debe ser un avi\u00f3n propiamente dicho: Con tela tensada sobre estructura de madera, con una h\u00e9lice \u00fanica en la nariz y pat\u00edn de cola o una peque\u00f1a rueda debajo de la cola\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Fiel a la tradici\u00f3n conservadora que domina la regi\u00f3n, el museo muestra con orgullo el testimonio de una visita que\u00a0<strong>George W. Bush<\/strong> realiz\u00f3 al aer\u00f3dromo el 5 de septiembre de 1992 en plena campa\u00f1a para su reelecci\u00f3n a la presidencia de los EE.UU. El primero de ellos contiene la muestra est\u00e1tica de aeronaves, oficinas del museo, biblioteca, \u00e1rea de mantenimiento y\u00a0<em>\u201cmuseum shop\u201d<\/em>. \u00abrom\u00e1ntica\u00bb. Por eso, no deja de llamar la atenci\u00f3n la presencia de tres ejemplares de la dinast\u00eda <strong>Piper Cub<\/strong>\u00a0(un Taylorcraft E-2, un J-2 y un J-5A), dos\u00a0<strong>Cessnas cl\u00e1sicos<\/strong>\u00a0(un 170 y un 190), un\u00a0<strong>Fairchild 24<\/strong>, un\u00a0<strong>Curtiss Robin<\/strong>\u00a0y un biplano\u00a0<strong>WACO<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n exhibe varias r\u00e9plicas recreacionales de cazas de las I y II guerras mundiales (algunas de ellas a\u00fan en condici\u00f3n de vuelo) y su hangar n\u00famero dos sirve de alojamiento para un hermoso <strong>Boeing D75N1<\/strong>\u00a0(en el que se pueden realizar vuelos de 15\u2032 de duraci\u00f3n a un costo de US $ 100), un llamativo\u00a0<strong>Ercoup\u00e9 pintado<\/strong>\u00a0de amarillo, un acrob\u00e1tico\u00a0<strong>Skybolt<\/strong>\u00a0rojo o un brillante\u00a0<strong>Piper Comanche<\/strong>.
