<strong>Edouard<\/strong> (1875-1911) y <strong>Charles Nieuport<\/strong> (1878-1913), los monoplanos Nieuport nacieron en Francia a principios de la d\u00e9cada de 1910 y tuvieron bastante \u00e9xito en el incipiente mercado aeron\u00e1utico mundial gracias a la simplicidad de su construcci\u00f3n y la elegancia de sus formas.<\/p>\n<p>Piloteados por aviadores europeos o norteamericanos, sus distintas variantes tuvieron una participaci\u00f3n destacada en la Gran Semana de la Aviaci\u00f3n de Champagne (07\/1910), las copas Gordon Bennet y Michelin (1911) y la competencia militar de Reims-B\u00e9theny (09\/1911).<\/p>\n<p>Desarrollado en ocho versiones terrestres y acu\u00e1ticas de uno a tres asientos y equipadas con motores de diferentes marcas y potencias (entre 30 a 100 caballos de fuerza), sus distintas configuraciones pod\u00edan alcanzar velocidades de entre 120 y 140 km\/h.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_37026\" deportivo y de entrenamiento, el dise\u00f1o fue agrandado y potenciado para prestar servicio como aeronave de observaci\u00f3n militar en la que se conocer\u00eda como el modelo IVM.<\/p>\n<p>El Nieuport IVM era as\u00ed un monoplano, monomotor biplaza construido en madera con revestimientos de tela y apoyos de cables met\u00e1licos con tren de aterrizaje met\u00e1lico de dos ruedas \u00abSuper Balloon\u00bb y pat\u00edn central de frenado en el aterrizaje.<\/p>\n<p>La planta alar era de forma trapezoidal con perfil del tipo semi espeso biconvexo, con gruesos largueros fuertemente arriostrados al fuselaje por medio de cables de acero semirr\u00edgidos.<\/p>\n<p>La planta de poder estaba integrada por un motor rotativo, radial refrigerado por aire, <strong>Gnome Double-Omega<\/strong> de 14 cilindros en estrella y 100 HP de potencia que accionaba una sola h\u00e9lice tractora bipala.<\/p>\n<p>Con una envergadura de 12,25 m, longitud de 8,15 m, altura de 2,85 m y superficie alar de 23 m2, el IVM ten\u00eda un peso total de 705 kg (compuesto por 100 kg del motor, 380 kg del planeador, 75 kg de combustibles y 180 kg de equipaje) y un peso m\u00e1ximo de despegue de 795 kg; lo que determinaba una carga alar de 30,65 kg\/m2 y una relaci\u00f3n carga\/potencia de 7,05 kg\/HP.<\/p>\n<p>Con un peso de despegue de 705 kg, el modelo pod\u00eda alcanzar una velocidad m\u00e1xima de 117 km\/h y entraba en p\u00e9rdida a los 80 km\/h, registraba un r\u00e9gimen de trepada inicial de 100 m\/min, un techo de servicio de 3.500 m y una autonom\u00eda de dos horas de vuelo.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Incorporaci\u00f3n a la flamante aviaci\u00f3n militar argentina<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Dos m\u00e1quinas de este tipo fueron donadas en 1912 por empresas o particulares que colaboraron en la colecta de material y fondos pro-flotilla a\u00e9rea militar organizada por las autoridades del Aero Club Argentino, entidad que presid\u00eda el Ingeniero <strong>Jorge Alejandro Newbery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>La primera de ellas, bautizada <strong>\u00abArgentina\u00bb<\/strong>, fue donada en 1912 por la empresa tabacalera <strong>Piccardo y Compa\u00f1\u00eda<\/strong> a trav\u00e9s del Aero Club Argentino tras un proceso de selecci\u00f3n conducido por una comisi\u00f3n especial formada por miembros del aeroclub y el Ministerio de Guerra.<\/p>\n<p>La segunda, bautizada <strong>\u201cEduardo Castex\u201d<\/strong> en honor al agrimensor, empresario de seguros y pol\u00edtico padre del donante, fue aportada por Alberto E. Castex, fundador de la colonia que hoy lleva el nombre de su padre en la Provincia de La Pampa.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_37027\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-37027\" style=\"width: <strong>Escuela Militar de Aviaci\u00f3n<\/strong> (EMA), asentada en aquel entonces en el Aer\u00f3dromo Militar de El Palomar (Buenos Aires).<\/p>\n<p>Dado que no estaban bien calibradas, ambas m\u00e1quinas fueron depositadas en el Hangar N\u00ba 4, de donde eran retiradas circunstancialmente para hacer funcionar sus motores o para realizar ocasionales carreteos a cargo del teniente primero <strong>Alfredo Salvador Agneta<\/strong> o del teniente <strong>Pedro Leandro Zanni<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Hacia setiembre de ese a\u00f1o lleg\u00f3 a El Palomar <strong>Alejo Sim\u00f3n Tinao Planes<\/strong>, aviador civil argentino que hab\u00eda recibido instrucci\u00f3n de vuelo en Francia y se hab\u00eda desempe\u00f1ado como armador y piloto de pruebas de la firma Nieuport en su
