Benedetto, 04\/03\/1914).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>La entrega de \u201cArgentina\u201d y \u201cEduardo Castex\u201d no podr\u00eda haber sido m\u00e1s oportuna ya que, por \u00f3rdenes recibidas a mediados del verano, se iniciaron las actividades de preparaci\u00f3n de dos escuadrillas de aeronaves de la Escuela Militar de Aviaci\u00f3n (EMA) para ser empleadas durante las maniobras generales que el Ej\u00e9rcito Nacional efectuar\u00eda en 04\/1914.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Ejercitaciones en Entre R\u00edos<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>El 14\/04 los dos Nieuport IVM, junto con pilotos, observadores, mec\u00e1nicos y equipos de asistencia t\u00e9cnica, fueron embarcados en un convoy ferroviario con destino a la localidad de Villaguay (Entre R\u00edos), desde donde operar\u00edan \u00abcombatiendo\u00bb a favor del \u00abbando azul\u00bb, uno de los dos contendientes a enfrentarse en las primeras maniobras militares argentinas que contaron con participaci\u00f3n de comandada por el Tte. 1\u00ba Agneta y ten\u00eda como pilotos a \u00e9l mismo y al Tte. Zanni y como observadores a los tenientes Campos (que vol\u00f3 con Zanni) y Benavente (que lo hizo con Agneta).<\/p>\n<p>Tras el arribo a Villaguay, los Nieuport fueron desplegados en un aer\u00f3dromo de campa\u00f1a que se conform\u00f3 en una quinta cercana, cedida a tal fin por un vecino de la localidad.<\/p>\n<p>A pesar de las lluvias que se suced\u00edan d\u00eda a d\u00eda, los aeroplanos operaron durante casi todas las maniobras realizando vuelos de observaci\u00f3n en apoyo de las fuerzas terrestres entre el 17 y el 25\/04, completando 26 misiones y 16:21 horas de vuelo efectivo.<\/p>\n<p>El Nieuport IV de Agneta sufri\u00f3 diversos percances entre los que resaltan un aterrizaje \u00ablargo\u00bb, en el cual el avi\u00f3n concluy\u00f3 su carrera volteando varios \u00e1rboles de un peque\u00f1o bosque vecino al aer\u00f3dromo de campa\u00f1a de Villaguay.<\/p>\n<p>Por otro lado, el 24\/04, por una falla de motor, debi\u00f3 aterrizar en emergencia cerca de Clara (Entre R\u00edos) da\u00f1\u00e1ndose sus planos, dejando su m\u00e1quina fuera de servicio hasta el final de las maniobras y cayendo la tripulaci\u00f3n prisionera del \u201cbando rojo\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>La m\u00e1quina de Zanni, por su parte, sufr\u00eda una notable tendencia a caer sobre el ala izquierda, falencia que los mec\u00e1nicos no pod\u00edan resolver pese a las sucesivas revisiones que hicieron a un avi\u00f3n que parec\u00eda estar en buen estado.<\/p>\n<p>La causa fue descubierta una ma\u00f1ana por el Jefe de Talleres de la EMA, <strong>Ambrosio Taravella<\/strong>, quien observando a trasluz el ala not\u00f3 que su interior estaba lleno de agua.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_37043\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-37043\" Benedetto, 04\/03\/1914).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Perforando el borde de fuga con clavos peque\u00f1os se logr\u00f3 drenar el semiplano de l\u00edquido y el avi\u00f3n volvi\u00f3 a comportarse correctamente.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>R\u00e9cord sudamericano, visitas ilustres\u2026 y un tr\u00e1gico final<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>En su breve paso por la aviaci\u00f3n militar argentina (1913-1915), los Nieuport IVM fueron protagonistas de varios vuelos destacados para la \u00e9poca y tomaron parte en no pocos eventos de gran exposici\u00f3n ante el p\u00fablico general.<\/p>\n<p>La m\u00e1quina piloteada por Zanni tambi\u00e9n logr\u00f3 un r\u00e9cord sudamericano de velocidad y distancia al realizar un raid entre El Palomar, Villa Mercedes (San Luis), Pehuaj\u00f3 (Buenos Aires) y El Palomar entre el 18 y 23\/07\/1914.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_37044\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-37044\" style=\"width: 325px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a \u201cEduardo Castex\u201d particip\u00f3 en un desfile a\u00e9reo en honor del presidente de los Estados Unidos, <strong>Theodore Roosevelt<\/strong>, quien se encontraba en el pa\u00eds en visita oficial.<\/p>\n<p>El 31\/03\/1914, a su vez, ambos Nieuports fueron parte de una escuadrilla de cinco aviones de la EMA que volaron al encuentro del tren que trasladaba a los <strong>pr\u00edncipes de Prusia<\/strong>, Enrique e Irene, y los escoltaron hasta la localidad de Pilar demostrando las capacidades desarrolladas por la incipiente arma a\u00e9rea militar argentina en sus primeros dos a\u00f1os de vida.<\/p>\n<p>A principios de 10\/1914, finalmente, el Tte. 1\u00ba Agneta volar\u00eda 40 minutos en el \u201cArgentina\u201d con el agregado militar brasile\u00f1o, <strong>teniente Vasconcelos<\/strong>, como pasajero invitado.<\/p>\n<p>Ambos aparatos tomaron parte de homenajes realizados tras la muerte de Newbery: \u201cEduardo Castex\u201d desfil\u00f3 por las calles de Buenos Aires el 04\/03\/1914 y ambos fueron parte del dispositivo a\u00e9reo que sobrevol\u00f3 el estadio de la Sociedad Sportiva de Palermo el 05\/04\/1914.<\/p>\n<p>Los dos Nieuport IVM tambi\u00e9n fueron parte del desfile a\u00e9reo con el que el 12\/08\/1914 se celebr\u00f3 el segundo aniversario de la creaci\u00f3n de la EMA, sobrevolando no s\u00f3lo El Palomar sino tambi\u00e9n Mor\u00f3n, Caseros, Hurlingham y Bella Vista.<\/p>\n<p>Pero el 28\/10\/1914, la desgracia se ensa\u00f1\u00f3 con el elegante monoplano franc\u00e9s y uno de sus tripulantes: Mientras decolaba de El Palomar a bordo del \u201cArgentina\u201d, con el Dr. <strong>Felipe Madariaga<\/strong> como pasajero invitado, el Tte. 1\u00ba Agneta se encontr\u00f3 de frente con un Farman 50 HP que en ese momento era tripulado por el teniente Garc\u00eda Fern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n<p>Agneta evadi\u00f3 al biplano de Garc\u00eda Fern\u00e1ndez y, tras pasar unos 10 m bajo aquel, entr\u00f3 en p\u00e9rdida sobre el ala izquierda y cay\u00f3 a tierra desde unos 60 m de altura causando la muerte instant\u00e1nea de Agneta y provocando heridas graves a Madariaga, quien morir\u00eda mientras lo asist\u00eda el periodista y aviador civil, Gervasio Videla Dorna.<\/p>\n<p>El \u201cEduardo Castex\u201d continu\u00f3 operando bajo el comando de Zanni al menos hasta 06\/1915 y permaneci\u00f3 en el inventario de la EAM hasta el segundo semestre de ese a\u00f1o, cuando su desafectaci\u00f3n definitiva concluy\u00f3 la ef\u00edmera historia del primer modelo de aplicaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica de nuestra
