Es el edificio de Aeroflot, proyectado en 1934.<\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de la Primera Guerra Mundial y la guerra civil, la Uni\u00f3n Sovi\u00e9tica no estaba en condiciones de crear un sistema de transporte a\u00e9reo acorde con su tama\u00f1o y poblaci\u00f3n. Para solucionar el problema, el primer paso fue una serie de acuerdos con los alemanes, form\u00e1ndose una sociedad llamada Deutsch-Russische Luftverkehrs A.G. Para ello, en agosto de 1933 parti\u00f3 el buque <i>Cheliuskin<\/i>, que qued\u00f3 atrapado en los hielos en septiembre con todos sus tripulantes. El rescate parec\u00eda imposible, pero para eso estaba Aeroflot, que organiz\u00f3 un puente a\u00e9reo que rescat\u00f3 a los 111 n\u00e1ufragos sin bajas. El buque se hundi\u00f3 un tiempo despu\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>El operativo fue llevado a cabo por siete pilotos, que utilizaron un Tupolev TB-1 (ANT-4), un bombardero bimotor de 6.800 kg de peso m\u00e1ximo, operando desde una pista rudimentaria hecha por los marinos sobre los hielos flotantes.<\/p>\n<p>Y el otro hecho inconexo fue la evoluci\u00f3n de la arquitectura sovi\u00e9tica despu\u00e9s de la llegada de Stalin que, por un lado, ten\u00eda todo por construir en un pa\u00eds muy atrasado, y por el otro deb\u00eda encontrar un lenguaje que expresara la revoluci\u00f3n comunista. En esta compleja tarea abrev\u00f3 en el movimiento moderno de aquellos a\u00f1os (Le Corbusier, Mies Van der Rohe, Mendelsohn) y en el clasicismo absoluto, lo que dio lugar a una interesante s\u00edntesis ecl\u00e9ctica. Lo m\u00e1s conocido por el p\u00fablico occidental de este movimiento son las espectaculares estaciones del Metro de Mosc\u00fa.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00ed las cosas, a mediados de los a\u00f1os treinta el gobierno decidi\u00f3 embellecer Mosc\u00fa, llamando a concurso para la construcci\u00f3n de una serie de edificios que deber\u00edan mostrarle al mundo la potencia de la Uni\u00f3n Sovi\u00e9tica a trav\u00e9s de la arquitectura, una f\u00f3rmula que ya hab\u00eda utilizado con \u00e9xito Keops, 4.500 a\u00f1os antes y sigue funcionando. Es interesante apuntar que en esos concursos participaron importantes estudios occidentales.<\/p>\n<p>Lo m\u00e1s notable (aunque s\u00f3lo fuera por su tama\u00f1o), fue el proyecto ganador para la construcci\u00f3n del Palacio de los Soviets, un edificio de m\u00e1s de cuatrocientos metros de altura, que inclu\u00eda en su coronamiento una estatua de Lenin de cien metros.<\/p>\n<figure altura (foto archivo).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mientras estaba en marcha este plan de construcciones, ocurri\u00f3 el naufragio del <i>Cheliuskin<\/i>, que concit\u00f3 gran atenci\u00f3n del p\u00fablico, al punto que los siete pilotos fueron los primeros en recibir la condecoraci\u00f3n de H\u00e9roe de la Uni\u00f3n Sovi\u00e9tica, creada en esos tiempos.<\/p>\n<p>Aeroflot tambi\u00e9n gan\u00f3 un reconocimiento importante, y as\u00ed surgi\u00f3 la idea de incluir un palacio para la empresa en el plan de embellecimiento de Mosc\u00fa, tarea que fue encomendada al ya famoso arquitecto Dimitri Chechulin, autor de varios edificios p\u00fablicos.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto para la l\u00ednea a\u00e9rea preve\u00eda un volumen de acceso donde deber\u00edan haberse colocado las siete estatuas de los pilotos y un cuerpo principal de oficinas, coronado por el s\u00edmbolo de la empresa.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_37554\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-37554\" archivo).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Casi ning\u00fan edificio del plan de Mosc\u00fa se construy\u00f3, como consecuencia de los problemas econ\u00f3micos y la guerra. El de Aeroflot fue uno de los que no vieron la luz. Chechulin continu\u00f3 trabajando para el estado sovi\u00e9tico, habiendo realizado varios proyectos importantes que s\u00ed se hicieron: cuatro estaciones del Metro de Mosc\u00fa, la pileta de Mosc\u00fa, los hoteles Rossiya y Peking y la Casa Blanca de Rusia, actual sede del gobierno de la Federaci\u00f3n Rusa.
