En la d\u00e9cada de los 90 se someti\u00f3 a toda la flota a un proceso de modernizaci\u00f3n actualizando principalmente equipos de avi\u00f3nica, navegaci\u00f3n y alg\u00fan elemento estructural.<\/p>\n<p>En 47 a\u00f1os de servicio los H\u00e9rcules (T.10 nomenclatura en el EA) han realizado unas 210.000 horas de vuelo y como media cada avi\u00f3n tiene sobre 17.000 horas de vuelo. Son aparatos que gracias a los cuidados con los que han sido operados y al continuo meticuloso mantenimiento del personal de tierra, se encuentran en un excelente estado. La flota podr\u00eda continuar operativa durante muchos a\u00f1os m\u00e1s, cabe destacar que Reino Unido dio de baja sus H\u00e9rcules con m\u00e1s de 35.000 horas de vuelo por c\u00e9lula. Es un avi\u00f3n al que se le puede abastecer en vuelo lo que deja en la resistencia de la tripulaci\u00f3n el determinar la distancia del vuelo. As\u00ed mismo la velocidad del A400M resulta \u00f3ptima a la hora de abastecer de combustible a los cazas, que con el H\u00e9rcules deb\u00edan reducir mucho su velocidad. Sin duda es un formidable vector estrat\u00e9gico con el que el EA ha dado un importante salto cualitativo aumentando considerablemente sus capacidades. Para Espa\u00f1a tambi\u00e9n resulta de suma importancia participar del programa del A400M, ya que supone estar dentro de la industria aeron\u00e1utica europea dejando de depender de otros pa\u00edses para la adquisici\u00f3n de material.<\/p>\n<p>A pesar de ello el Hercules va dejar un hueco enorme en las capacidades del EA, el que queda entre las capacidades por debajo del A400M y por arriba de las del C-295M.
