Los vuelos a Atlanta fueron una combinaci\u00f3n de ambas cosas, porque la decisi\u00f3n de hacer esos vuelos se tom\u00f3 en 1992, cuando la empresa, con dos SAAB SF-340 volaba solamente a C\u00f3rdoba, Villa Gesell y Colonia. En ese momento se present\u00f3 el pedido ante las autoridades nacionales para volar a Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s vino la decisi\u00f3n de salir a competir con la alica\u00edda Aerol\u00edneas Argentinas administrada por Iberia, y llegaron los Boeing 737\/200, con sus tarifas revolucionarias. El detalle m\u00e1s significativo del nuevo servicio era el precio, 299 pesos por tramo. Hubo varios muy parecidos en diversos medios.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>El vuelo inaugural fue el 17 de agosto de 1999, y la revista que se repart\u00eda a los pasajeros en los vuelos de LAPA, llamada <i>Alturas<\/i>, dedic\u00f3 la tapa y buena parte del contenido de su n\u00famero de ese mes a los nuevos servicios internacionales. El art\u00edculo principal sobre el tema debi\u00f3 haberse llamado \u201c<em>United States by LAPA<\/em>\u201d, pero uno de esos demonios que siempre acechan en los fr\u00edos rincones de las imprentas meti\u00f3 la cola y sac\u00f3 una \u201cs\u201d.
