Podr\u00eda decirse que si una aerol\u00ednea tiene demoras, sus pasajeros los necesitar\u00e1n para pasar el tiempo en los aeropuertos. Que los regale la competencia, puede ser un buen recurso publicitario.<\/p>\n<p>En 1996 LAPA estaba en pleno proceso de expansi\u00f3n, aumentando rutas y frecuencias, e incorporando nuevos aviones. Su objetivo era llegar a tener un 30% del mercado local y convertirse as\u00ed en la segunda empresa a\u00e9rea del pa\u00eds, detr\u00e1s del grupo Aerol\u00edneas\/Austral, controlado por Iberia. Detr\u00e1s estaba Dinar, con menos aspiraciones y una red m\u00e1s peque\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>LAPA era una low cost armada con el criterio primitivo que se us\u00f3 en Estados Unidos despu\u00e9s de la desregulaci\u00f3n, cuyo m\u00e1ximo exponente fue People Expres. La foto fue tomada en agosto de 1998 y el avi\u00f3n es el luego tristemente c\u00e9lebre LV-WRZ (foto Pablo Luciano Potenze).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Para compensar este problema las tarifas eran muy inferiores a las de la competencia (en este caso Aerol\u00edneas\/Austral), y los pasajeros se dejaban seducir por los precios antes que por la puntualidad, aunque cuando les tocaba se o\u00edan las maldiciones.<\/p>\n<p>Era vox p\u00f3puli que LAPA ten\u00eda este problema, y quien mejor me lo explic\u00f3 fue un taxista de Iguaz\u00fa, acostumbrado a llevar y traer pasajeros al aeropuerto, que sosten\u00eda que LAPA quer\u00eda decir LA PAciencia necesaria para esperar que el avi\u00f3n llegue. Los te\u00f3ricos porte\u00f1os dec\u00edan en ese entonces que el significado de la sigla era \u201cL\u00edneas A\u00e9reas Por Ahora\u201d o \u201cL\u00edneas A\u00e9reas Para Audaces\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Consciente de que este defecto de su competidora le daba una ventaja, el grupo Aerol\u00edneas\/Austral public\u00f3 este aviso en todos los diarios de Buenos Aires, en el que resaltaba su puntualidad, una de las pocas cosas que pod\u00eda mostrar, porque estaba viviendo un proceso de decadencia que tambi\u00e9n era evidente. Los n\u00fameros, independientemente de c\u00f3mo se hayan medido, son elocuentes.
