Es un hecho significativo que representa un hito en la aportaci\u00f3n de Espa\u00f1a a las operaciones internacionales que ha tenido un claro efecto transformador en Ej\u00e9rcito del Aire (EA).<\/p>\n<p>El Componente NE-3A fue la primera unidad de vuelo internacional establecida por la OTAN, tiene como misi\u00f3n realizar las tareas de vigilancia y gesti\u00f3n de batalla ordenadas por el Comandante de la Fuerza de NAEW&amp;CF. Se compone de alrededor de veinte equipos multinacionales de 15 de los 28 pa\u00edses miembros de la OTAN que est\u00e1n encuadrados en los dos escuadrones operativos del Componente E-3A.<\/p>\n<p>El componente est\u00e1 dotado del ya veterano E-3A Sentry (derivado del Boeing 707-320B y localmente conocido como NE-3A) que entr\u00f3 a prestar servicio en 1977, y para los cuales se emplearon las \u00faltimas c\u00e9lulas de Boeing 707 que salieron de la cadena de montaje.<\/p>\n<p>En febrero de 1982 comenzaron las operaciones a\u00e9reas desde la base de Geilenkirchen con la llegada del primer Boeing NE-3A. Decisi\u00f3n encaminada a la reducci\u00f3n de costes y para poder usar los aviones retirados como fuente de repuestos y posibilitar alargar la vida de los aparatos en servicio hasta 2035.<\/p>\n<p>Para operar los complejos equipos del\u00a0 AWACS (NE-3A Sentry) el aparato aloja un equipo de 15 personas provenientes de diversas especialidades y todos ellos est\u00e1n ampliamente capacitados en sus respectivos apartados. En misiones de larga duraci\u00f3n, la tripulaci\u00f3n puede llegar a ser de hasta 33 personas.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>El Componente NAEW&amp;CF<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>El \u00abComponente\u00bb esta formado por cinco \u00e1reas operativas principales: \u00abOperaciones\u00bb, \u00abLog\u00edstica\u00bb, \u00abApoyo en Tierra\u00bb, \u00abEntrenamiento\u00bb y \u00abTecnolog\u00eda\u00bb; adem\u00e1s de otros departamentos de apoyo y servicios en la propia base.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00ed pues, la misi\u00f3n principal del componente NAEW&amp;CF es disponer en todo momento de tripulaciones y aeronaves al servicio del SACEUR (por \u00abSupreme Allied Commander Europe\u00bb \/ \u00abComandante Aliando Supremo de Europa\u00bb), quien las dirigir\u00e1 all\u00ed donde fueran requeridos sus servicios.<\/p>\n<p>Los NE-3A han sido desplegados para las misiones y necesidades mas diversas durante su carrera operacional.
