La Matanza a Ohio (5\/5): En el USAF Museum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>El Martin se encuentra en el interior del USAF Museum, reproduciendo el YB-10 USAAC 33-146, que integr\u00f3 la formaci\u00f3n que efectuara el hist\u00f3rico vuelo Washington-Fairbanks-Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Consecuentemente, est\u00e1 pintado con los colores azul y amarillo del Cuerpo A\u00e9reo del Ej\u00e9rcito de los a\u00f1os 30.<\/p>\n<p>Hasta principios de 1934, las aeronaves militares eran pintadas en dos colores: azul claro para los entrenadores y verde oliva para los aviones t\u00e1cticos.<\/p>\n<figure log\u00edstica que obligaba a tener en dep\u00f3sito cantidades de pintura de ambos colores y tambi\u00e9n era necesario saber el rol en el que se empleaban los aviones para pintarlos de la forma correcta.<\/p>\n<p>En enero de 1934 el jefe de la Divisi\u00f3n del Material adopt\u00f3 un criterio m\u00e1s sencillo: Se estableci\u00f3 para los aviones en general, al margen del rol, un esquema de azul claro para el fuselaje y amarillo cromo para las alas y el tim\u00f3n de cola.<\/p>\n<p>Cuando las m\u00e1quinas fueran utilizadas en funciones t\u00e1cticas se les aplicar\u00eda una capa de pintura al agua de camuflaje, lo que hac\u00eda innecesario disponer de partidas de pintura verde oliva.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_44026\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-44026\" ametralladora delantera (foto: USAF).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Por cuestiones pr\u00e1cticas, el repintado de la flota a\u00e9rea se fue haciendo gradualmente, a medida que las m\u00e1quinas pasaban a la etapa de <em>overhaul<\/em> y el proceso dur\u00f3 varios a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>Las fotos en blanco y negro de aeronaves del USAAC, tomadas a mediados de los a\u00f1os 30, dieron paso a algunas dudas sobre los colores aplicados en las mismas, pero la explicaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 en los dos tipos de pel\u00edculas fotogr\u00e1ficas empleadas en esa \u00e9poca: la <strong>ortocrom\u00e1tica <\/strong>aclaraba los tonos en azul mientras que la <strong>pancrom\u00e1tica<\/strong> los oscurec\u00eda, lo que a menudo dificultaba el poder distinguir entre el azul y el verde oliva, si bien no hay evidencias que acrediten que se siguiera utilizando este \u00faltimo.<\/p>\n<p>Si bien al llegar a Wright Patterson, el aparato luc\u00eda el esquema azul\/amarillo y el escudo de la expedici\u00f3n a Alaska, en alg\u00fan momento de la d\u00e9cada de 1980 o 1990 perdi\u00f3 ese distintivo porque los investigadores del museo llegaron a la conclusi\u00f3n de que el 33-146 luc\u00eda esquema verde\/amarillo en el vuelo de 1934\u2026 \u00a1y les resultaba m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil eliminar el escudo que repintar el avi\u00f3n completo!<\/p>\n<figure USAF).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Pero no hay dudas que los colores que reviste son los ostentados en el vuelo de 1934: Tal como afirmaba Jeffery S.Underwood en su libro <em>The Wings of Democracy: The influence of Air Power in the Roosevelt Administration 1933-1941<\/em>: <em>\u201clos bombarderos de Arnold dieron un espect\u00e1culo colorido para los habitantes de Washington, D.C. En lugar del fuselaje verde oliva y alas amarillas de las aeronaves t\u00e1cticas del Cuerpo A\u00e9reo, sus aviones ostentaban fuselajes azul claro con alas amarillas. Adecuadamente impresionado, el New York Times inform\u00f3 que los aviones arribaron a Washington con \u201csus fuselajes y alas brillando al sol\u2026exactamente a tiempo. aeronave muy bien mantenida, pero pintada con los colores azul y amarillo del <em>Army Air Corps<\/em> de mediados de los a\u00f1os 30 y la ficha explicaba que eran los lucidos por las m\u00e1quinas que hab\u00edan hecho el legendario vuelo Washington-Fairbanks mencionado anteriormente.<\/p>\n<p>Habiendo constatado que lo establecido en el art\u00edculo 2\u00ba de la ley de transferencia no se cumpl\u00eda (es decir, que el Martin no ostentaba los colores nacionales), nos dirigimos por carta al director del USAF Museum a fin de se\u00f1alarle dicho incumplimiento y solicitamos se analizase la factibilidad de revertir la situaci\u00f3n\u2026 para lo que nunca recibimos respuesta.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, algunos meses despu\u00e9s comprobamos que la ficha del B-10 de la p\u00e1gina web del museo hab\u00eda sido ampliada con nueva informaci\u00f3n relativa a c\u00f3mo hab\u00eda sido adquirida la m\u00e1quina: All\u00ed se resaltaba que la instituci\u00f3n hab\u00eda buscado un Martin por a\u00f1os hasta que localiz\u00f3 un ejemplar en la Argentina, como elemento de la Escuela Industrial \u201cJorge Newberry\u201d (sic), iniciando entonces las gestiones para su
