La decisi\u00f3n de basarse en C\u00f3rdoba y utilizar jets de 50 plazas romp\u00eda con las tradiciones del mercado local y, destacando esto, busc\u00f3 hacerse un nicho en el mercado. El folleto que ilustra esta nota con la frase \u201cya puede volar como lo har\u00e1n en el futuro\u201d marca claramente este pensamiento.<\/p>\n<p>Detr\u00e1s de esto hab\u00eda un plan coherente, que supo conseguir la financiaci\u00f3n de bancos internacionales para poner en marcha una empresa que originalmente no ten\u00eda ning\u00fan capital propio. Todo un m\u00e9rito que muestra un esp\u00edritu empresario no com\u00fan en nuestro sector aerocomercial.<\/p>\n<p>Southern Winds creci\u00f3 como empresa cordobesa hasta que un d\u00eda decidi\u00f3 instalarse en Buenos Aires, sin romper sus ideas fundamentales de flota y tipo de servicios. Funcion\u00f3 como una ampliaci\u00f3n coherente, y se convirti\u00f3 en la primera empresa argentina que tuvo dos hubs dignos de ser considerados como tales.<\/p>\n<p>Pero lleg\u00f3 la crisis de 2001, la demanda cay\u00f3 en todo el mundo, el plan no se sostuvo y los bancos le quitaron su apoyo. Fue un momento dif\u00edcil, que requer\u00eda un grado de imaginaci\u00f3n que no hubo. La empresa, que hab\u00eda mimado a sus pasajeros ofreci\u00e9ndoles volar en una aeronave moderna que permit\u00eda una interesante flexibilidad de servicios, opt\u00f3 por el avi\u00f3n m\u00e1s barato que consigui\u00f3 en las liquidaciones del momento, el Boeing 737\/200, igualito al que usaban sus competidores desde hac\u00eda d\u00e9cadas.<\/p>\n<p>Y el encanto se rompi\u00f3. Por supuesto que no hizo falta ning\u00fan folleto que dijera \u201cya puede volar como lo hac\u00eda hace treinta a\u00f1os\u201d, pero todos se dieron cuenta de la incoherencia, y las cosas nunca pudieron ser como hab\u00edan sido. Lo que hab\u00eda sido una pujante empresa privada debi\u00f3 transar con los vericuetos del Estado, se convirti\u00f3 en el operador de LAFSA (ver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gacetaeronautica.com\/gaceta\/wp-101\/?p=157\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LAFSA \u2013 L\u00edneas A\u00e9reas Federales Sociedad An\u00f3nima<\/a>), y despu\u00e9s de una decadencia pat\u00e9tica desapareci\u00f3 con m\u00e1s pena que gloria.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Southern Winds fue una empresa que se present\u00f3 en el mercado argentino con valores y servicios renovados y poco habituales en el pa\u00eds por aquel entonces.
