Con una historia riqu\u00edsima por donde han pasado todas las civilizaciones del <em>Mare Nostrum<\/em>, desde la \u00e9poca de la construcci\u00f3n de Hagar Qim hasta nuestros d\u00edas.<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, Malta es uno de los veintisiete Estados soberanos que forman la Uni\u00f3n Europea. Por tanto su legislaci\u00f3n y normas est\u00e1n de acuerdo a lo regulado en la uni\u00f3n. La poblaci\u00f3n local no llega al medio mill\u00f3n de habitantes, pero su densidad es elevad\u00edsima: 1457 hab.\/km\u00b2.<\/p>\n<p>El pa\u00eds mediterr\u00e1neo es un popular destino tur\u00edstico con su clima c\u00e1lido, numerosas \u00e1reas recreativas y monumentos arquitect\u00f3nicos e hist\u00f3ricos. Entre sus principales industrias est\u00e1 el turismo, y por tanto, el transporte a\u00e9reo.<\/p>\n<p>Y aqu\u00ed llega la confusi\u00f3n, ya que el pa\u00eds alberga dos aerol\u00edneas con su nombre y con base all\u00ed: Air Malta y Malta Air. Las dos aerol\u00edneas, sin embargo, son muy diferentes. De hecho, Air Malta es la aerol\u00ednea tradicional de bandera del pa\u00eds desde anta\u00f1o. La empresa fue establecida en 1973 como una nueva aerol\u00ednea por el gobierno malt\u00e9s, con sede en el Aeropuerto Internacional de Malta. Fue la continuaci\u00f3n de varias aerol\u00edneas privadas que hab\u00edan operado en varios momentos desde finales de la d\u00e9cada de 1940.<\/p>\n<p>La nueva aerol\u00ednea inicialmente alquil\u00f3 con tripulaci\u00f3n dos Boeing 720 de PIA e inici\u00f3 vuelos en abril de 1974. La primeras rutas establecidas fueron al Reino Unido, Alemania, Francia, Italia y Libia con estos dos aviones iniciales. Air Malta luego ampli\u00f3 esta flota a cinco m\u00e1quinas y luego tambi\u00e9n alquil\u00f3 Boeing 737. M\u00e1s tarde compr\u00f3 tres aviones 737-200, que comenzaron a operar en marzo de 1983. A d\u00eda de hoy, Air Malta sirve a varios destinos en Europa y el norte de \u00c1frica. Tambi\u00e9n comparte c\u00f3digo con varias aerol\u00edneas europeas y de Medio Oriente, y recientemente agreg\u00f3 a ITA Airways de Italia.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, en los \u00faltimos meses de 2022 tambi\u00e9n se ha enfrentado a una reestructuraci\u00f3n, lo que ha provocado una gran p\u00e9rdida de puestos de trabajo. Es una subsidiaria de Ryanair y opera aviones registrados en Malta. Mayormente son aeronave con el livery de Ryanair y matr\u00edcula maltesa, aunque la subsidiaria tambi\u00e9n tiene librea propia.<\/p>\n<p>Durante muchos a\u00f1os, Ryanair oper\u00f3 como una sola empresa y marca. Desde su fundaci\u00f3n en 1984 hasta 2018, Ryanair sigui\u00f3 la estrategia de crecer a trav\u00e9s de una sola empresa. Permiti\u00f3 a Ryanair acceder a nuevos mercados, pero tambi\u00e9n a ahorrar costes, ya que dar a las aeronaves matr\u00edcula y base maltesas tiene ventajas fiscales.<\/p>\n<p>La lowcost maltesa inicialmente manej\u00f3 solo vuelos hacia y desde Luqa, pero se expandi\u00f3 r\u00e1pidamente. A medida que su red ha ido creciendo, tambi\u00e9n lo ha hecho su flota, e incluso ha comenzado a recibir aviones Boeing 737 MAX nuevos desde que se reanudaron las entregas del modelo. En cualquier caso, conviene concluir comparando las flotas de los dos operadores.<\/p>\n<p>Comenzando con Air Malta, la aerol\u00ednea nacional tiene a su disposici\u00f3n tres Airbus A320 y cuatro A320neo.
