Las enfermeras que oficiaban de personal de cabina de los aviones estaban all\u00ed para atender eventuales emergencias m\u00e9dicas o psicol\u00f3gicas durante el vuelo. Era una nueva profesi\u00f3n aeron\u00e1utica que, como todas, evolucion\u00f3 hasta que, en alg\u00fan momento, se pens\u00f3 que tambi\u00e9n ten\u00edan que ser atractivas, lo que dio lugar a una larga serie de historias picantes, imposibles de probar.<\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de la Segunda Guerra Mundial las tripulaciones de cabina se hicieron reglamentariamente obligatorias, y todas las empresas debieron atender este tema. El personal que ocup\u00f3 estos cargos, por su contacto directo con los pasajeros durante los vuelos, se convirti\u00f3 en una suerte de \u201ccara de cada empresa\u201d que, de un modo u otro, eligi\u00f3 la cara que quer\u00eda tener. Muchos pensaron en las chicas sexys, j\u00f3venes y solteras, otros prefirieron las tripulaciones mixtas, en las que hubo que definir si hab\u00eda alguna jerarqu\u00eda emanada del sexo, como el caso de Aerol\u00edneas Argentinas, donde la autoridad de la cabina, hasta bien entrados los a\u00f1os ochenta, estuvo en manos masculinas. Los hombres ingresaban como comisarios, y las mujeres como auxiliares, y ellas no pod\u00edan aspirar al comisariato. Las empresas les exig\u00edan ser solteras y las eleg\u00edan claramente por el f\u00edsico (les ped\u00edan altura y peso determinados y diversas variantes de la expresi\u00f3n \u201cbuena presencia\u201d. La venganza de las mujeres fue casarse y tener hijos, algo que las empresas no pod\u00edan impedir aunque lo intentaron. Tampoco pod\u00edan evitar que pasaran los a\u00f1os y, as\u00ed, el modelo de chica sexy fue imposible de sostener en el tiempo.<\/p>\n<p>Algunas empresas buscaron otros modos de seducir a los pasajeros. Pero la idea fracas\u00f3, porque el plan era que subieran al avi\u00f3n con varios atuendos puestos, uno encima del otro, y fueran sac\u00e1ndose prendas durante el vuelo. Nuestra \u00faltima menci\u00f3n es para una casa de comidas r\u00e1pidas norteamericana, Hooters, fundada en 1983, que result\u00f3 exitosa a partir de sus camareras, vestidas con musculosas y hot pants. Su flota estuvo formada por Boeing 737\/200 y 300 y un Boeing 757\/200. La idea era que las chicas de Hooters atendieran a los pasajeros, pero la normativa exig\u00eda que las TCP estuvieran certificadas por la FAA, por lo que a la tripulaci\u00f3n normal de los aviones se agregaron dos chicas con uniforme del restaurante que nadie supo bien qu\u00e9 hac\u00edan all\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>Como era de esperar, dur\u00f3 poco, porque dej\u00f3 de operar en 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Finalmente, hay un libro, supuestamente escrito por Trudy Baker y Rachel Jones, presumiblemente ex azafatas de Eastern, que se llama <em>Coffee, Tea or Me?, <\/em>publicado en 1967, en el que cuentan sus historias. Tuvo bastante \u00e9xito, lleg\u00f3 a las diez ediciones y hasta se hizo una pel\u00edcula basada en el texto (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XttDJIty8wI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ver video<\/a><\/strong>), pero la sorpresa la dio Donald Bain, un escritor que en sus memorias, publicadas en 2002, revel\u00f3 que \u00e9l hab\u00eda escrito el texto mientras trabajaba para American Airlines y hab\u00eda contratado a las azafatas para que lo firmaran.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Al principio, en los a\u00f1os treinta, las enfermeras oficiaban de personal de cabina de los aviones para atender eventuales emergencias m\u00e9dicas o psicol\u00f3gicas durante el vuelo.
