Publicidad de FAMA de 1947.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial lo normal era viajar a Europa en los numerosos servicios de buques que llegaban a Buenos Aires, que demoraban entre quince d\u00edas y un mes en realizar el trayecto, pero hab\u00eda algunos poqu\u00edsimos servicios a\u00e9reos. Despu\u00e9s del conflicto hubo una explosi\u00f3n de ofertas, incluida una de bandera argentina.<\/p>\n<p>En 1935 El Sindicato Condor empez\u00f3 a transportar pasajeros a Brasil, que un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s podr\u00edan conectar a Europa utilizando los servicios del dirigible Graf Zeppelin. Air France, sucesora de la CGA, explotaba un servicio postal desde 1927, que llev\u00f3 pasajeros alrededor de 1938. El sentimiento general era que las empresas europeas lo establecer\u00edan, y en esos primeros a\u00f1os aparecieron por aqu\u00ed aviones de BSAA, Air France, Iberia, KLM y Alitalia haciendo vuelos de ensayo con aviones excedentes de guerra. Las dos primeras con m\u00e1quinas de fabricaci\u00f3n propia (y dudosa performance) y el resto con aviones comprados a otros pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n<p>Lo que no estaba en los planes de nadie fue la aparici\u00f3n del general Per\u00f3n y sus seguidores, que en una fecha tan temprana como el 2 de enero de 1946 crearon la Flota A\u00e9rea Mercante Argentina (FAMA) con el objetivo de atender los viajes a\u00e9reos de largo radio con bandera argentina.<\/p>\n<p>El pa\u00eds, en medio de una campa\u00f1a electoral feroz e innovadora, viv\u00eda una grieta profunda. Para algunos el transporte a\u00e9reo era una necesidad de la \u201cnueva Argentina\u201d, mientras que para otros era un delirio. Entre \u00e9stos \u00faltimos estuvo el diario <em>La Prensa<\/em>, que en su edici\u00f3n del 6 de enero editorializ\u00f3:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u00ab&#8230;Se trata de una iniciativa que por diversas razones ha llamado la atenci\u00f3n. En primer t\u00e9rmino, porque en pa\u00edses de situaci\u00f3n aeron\u00e1utica precaria como el nuestro, sin industria propia del ramo, sin verdadera experiencia t\u00e9cnica y administrativa y sin el personal que corresponde a las vastas organizaciones industriales de los transportes a\u00e9reos internacionales es dif\u00edcil, por no decir imposible, que alcance \u00e9xito&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00ab&#8230;Por otra parte, pocas son las perspectivas que en lo comercial existen de que en un pa\u00eds as\u00ed pueda vencer, hasta equilibrarla al menos, la competencia de las l\u00edneas a\u00e9reas de naciones con independencia industrial y larga pr\u00e1ctica en una materia en constante renovaci\u00f3n que llegan a la Rep\u00fablica Argentina, y que con mayores facilidades atraer\u00e1n a los viajeros&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00ab&#8230;Presumible es que en mejor situaci\u00f3n se encontrar\u00edan la empresas privadas de nuestra bandera, que combinar\u00edan su capital con el aporte del personal, material y organizaci\u00f3n de pa\u00edses con capacidad probada para el desarrollo pleno de la aviaci\u00f3n comercial, empresas que debidamente autorizadas no tendr\u00edan por qu\u00e9 poner en peligro, en el exterior, el prestigio de nuestro pa\u00eds&#8230;\u00bb<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Es lapidario. FAMA tuvo algunos, pero los us\u00f3 como cargueros.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>El armado de FAMA fue complicado. Lo primero fue el Decreto 34.682\/45, que declar\u00f3 a LADE \u00f3rgano ejecutivo de la pol\u00edtica a\u00e9rea internacional del Estado Argentino creando, sobre la base de su transformaci\u00f3n en sociedad mixta, la Flota A\u00e9rea Mercante Argentina (FAMA), en el \u00e1mbito de la Aeron\u00e1utica Civil.<\/p>\n<p>La organizaci\u00f3n de la compa\u00f1\u00eda fue encomendada a una comisi\u00f3n especial al efecto, integrada por el secretario de Aeron\u00e1utica, de la Colina, el subsecretario brigadier Garramendi, el doctor Enrique Ferreyra y Pierre Colin Jeanell. El gobierno mostr\u00f3 especial inter\u00e9s en este proyecto. Al punto que en el acto de asunci\u00f3n del primer directorio \u2014encabezado por Miguel Miranda\u2014 estuvo presente el presidente Farrell. El capital privado no se integr\u00f3 hasta que comenzaron los vuelos, por lo que la organizaci\u00f3n de la empresa fue responsabilidad exclusiva del Estado y la Fuerza A\u00e9rea en particular.<\/p>\n<p>Los vuelos a Europa se iniciaron en 4 de junio de 1946, con un Short Sandringham alquilado a ALFA, que pronto fue reemplazado por una flota propia de Avro York y m\u00e1s tarde de Douglas DC-4 comprados a Dodero.<\/p>\n<p>El viaje era largo, por lo que se ofrec\u00edan a los pasajeros las comodidades m\u00ednimas para soportarlo. Los York sal\u00edan del aeropuerto de Mor\u00f3n los viernes a las 8.00 hora local, para llegar los domingos a las 18.00 hora de Londres. El tiempo real de vuelo era de treinta y siete horas y se pasaban quince en escalas. En Recife hab\u00eda un pernocte de doce horas. Unos d\u00edas despu\u00e9s del primero, en junio de 1946, apareci\u00f3 una pieza publicitaria destacando el trabajo de su servicio de mantenimiento.
