El problema obligo a la suspensi\u00f3n de los vuelos de los 787, cuando se sucedieron tres situaciones registradas en que las bater\u00edas de Litio entraron en cortocircuito y se incendiaron. Esta eventualidad pon\u00eda en riesgo la integridad del avi\u00f3n y motiv\u00f3 la suspensi\u00f3n.  <\/p>\n<p>La reanudaci\u00f3n de los vuelos en cielos chilenos sucede tras la autorizaci\u00f3n al fabricante por parte de la Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) de Estados Unidos, para la continuaci\u00f3n de las operaciones del modelo 787. El Dreamliner volvi\u00f3 al servicio el 27 de abril de 2013 con un vuelo de Ethiopian Airliners que uni\u00f3 Addis Ababa con Nairobi (Kenia) sin ning\u00fan inconveniente.  <\/p>\n<p>Boeing resolvi\u00f3 el problema encar\u00e1ndolo simult\u00e1neamente por diversas v\u00edas. La primera la contenci\u00f3n del problema en la fabricaci\u00f3n donde se agregaron nuevos controles de calidad a los existentes, adem\u00e1s de la verificaci\u00f3n del 100% de la producci\u00f3n (y no de lotes al azar). Adem\u00e1s se realizaron cambios en la estructura de las bater\u00edas donde se agregaron nuevas capas de aislaci\u00f3n entre las c\u00e9lulas que componen cada bater\u00eda. Tambi\u00e9n las bater\u00edas se alojan en unos novedosos contenedores de acero inoxidable que sirven de aislamiento de los dem\u00e1s componentes de la bodega de avi\u00f3nica (ver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gacetaeronautica.com\/gaceta\/wp-101\/?p=5137\">Despega el Boeing Dreamliner<\/a>).  <\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.gacetaeronautica.com\/gaceta\/wp-101\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/787return-1.jpg?w=1140\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">El Dreamliner volvi\u00f3 a surcar los cielos chilenos (foto: Carlos Ay).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>La modificaci\u00f3n al sistema de bater\u00edas fue realizada por un equipo t\u00e9cnico de LAN que trabaj\u00f3 en conjunto con casi 30 t\u00e9cnicos de Boeing. Las tareas se realizaron bajo la supervisi\u00f3n directa de la Direcci\u00f3n General de Aeron\u00e1utica Civil (DGAC) de Chile, con quien LAN ha colaborado desde hace m\u00e1s de 3 a\u00f1os para el lanzamiento de este nuevo avi\u00f3n. La compa\u00f1\u00eda chilena dispone de tres B-787-816 ya entregados (CC-BBA, CC-BBB y CC-BBC), m\u00e1s un cuarto avi\u00f3n que recibir\u00e1 a mediados de 2013. Ente tanto, LAN espera estar operando una docena de 787 para finales de 2014, ya que acord\u00f3 la incorporaci\u00f3n a su flota de 22 B-787-800 y 10 787-900s. <\/p>\n<p>Este primer vuelo de evaluaci\u00f3n tras las modificaciones, parti\u00f3 desde Arturo Merino Ben\u00edtez a las 13:00 hora local aproximadamente, con el indicativo LAN9997. Se realiz\u00f3 de forma normal y de acuerdo a lo planificado, sobrevolando por cerca de dos horas en el a\u00e9rea de la ciudad de Santiago de Chile. Antes de reiniciar las operaciones comerciales LAN deber\u00e1 cumplir con todos los requisitos solicitados por de la Direcci\u00f3n General de Aeron\u00e1utica de Chile y por la autoridad norteamericana, al implementar junto a t\u00e9cnicos de Boeing, el plan certificado por ellos. Esto implica una serie de vuelos de prueba adicionales. El segundo vuelo de prueba, LAN1300, se concret\u00f3 al momento de publicar este art\u00edculo, con salida desde Arturo Merino Ben\u00edtez a las 11:00 hora local. <\/p>\n<p>Cabe destacar que desde el inicio de sus operaciones con Boeing B-787, la compa\u00f1\u00eda no tuvo incidentes en el sistema de bater\u00edas de su flota 787, que se encontraba operando las rutas a Buenos Aires (ver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gacetaeronautica.com\/gaceta\/wp-101\/?p=5162\">Mi primer Dreamliner\u2026 \u201cno incluye bater\u00edas\u201d<\/a>), Lima y Los \u00c1ngeles, todas ellas con origen en Santiago de Chile.  <\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.gacetaeronautica.com\/gaceta\/wp-101\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/787return-3.jpg?w=1140\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">LAN inici\u00f3 los vuelos de prueba con el objetivo de certificar las nuevas bater\u00edas en sus aviones para reanudar la operaci\u00f3n comercial del Dreamliner (foto: LAN).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Luego de realizar la serie de vuelos de prueba requerida y con sus pilotos, LAN espera volver a operar el pr\u00f3ximo 1 de junio en la ruta Santiago-Lima-Los \u00c1ngeles, seg\u00fan indica la programaci\u00f3n de la compa\u00f1\u00eda. Para el 30 de junio tambi\u00e9n se program\u00f3 el inicio de los vuelos con Dreamliner en la ruta Santiago-Madrid.
