{"id":55204,"date":"2025-03-31T17:00:20","date_gmt":"2025-03-31T15:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gacetaeronautica.com\/gaceta\/wp-101\/?p=55204"},"modified":"2025-03-22T11:39:19","modified_gmt":"2025-03-22T10:39:19","slug":"el-futuro-es-de-los-bimotores","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gacetaeronautica.com\/gaceta\/wp-101\/el-futuro-es-de-los-bimotores\/","title":{"rendered":"El futuro es de los bimotores"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hoy pensamos que los jets bimotores son la soluci\u00f3n m\u00e1s razonable para encarar cualquier ruta, corta o larga, pero en promediando el siglo pasado eso parec\u00eda una idea muy loca.<\/p>\n<p>Dicen que el principal problema de los proyectistas de aviones es encontrar los motores adecuados para mover su idea. Los motores de aviaci\u00f3n son siempre una compleja soluci\u00f3n de compromiso entre el menor peso operativo del ingenio y la mayor potencia que pueda entregar. La soluci\u00f3n cl\u00e1sica de esta ecuaci\u00f3n fue aumentar la fuerza mediante el agregado de m\u00e1s motores, y as\u00ed llegamos a soluciones desesperadas como el famoso Dornier Do-X, que vol\u00f3 en 1929, que pudo ser el mayor avi\u00f3n del mundo pero requiri\u00f3 de doce motores de 513\/600 HP para volar lentamente, sin alcanzar mucha altura.<\/p>\n<p>El Hughes H-4 Hercules, otro hidroavi\u00f3n gigante de 1947, requiri\u00f3 de ocho motores de 4.000 HP, para realizar un \u00fanico vuelo en el que no super\u00f3 los veinti\u00fan metros de altura. Estos dos ejemplos fueron superados en prestaciones \u2014aunque no en tama\u00f1o\u2014 por los cuatrimotores pistoneros posteriores a la Segunda Guerra Mundial, que establecieron \u2014no sin dificultades\u2014 una f\u00f3rmula segura y eficiente para los aviones comerciales grandes y de largo alcance.<\/p>\n<p>Otro tema que impuls\u00f3 a la disposici\u00f3n multimotor fue la seguridad, porque se pensaba que con m\u00e1s plantas de poder siempre habr\u00eda alguna reserva frente a eventuales fallas, pero esto no fue siempre cierto.<\/p>\n<p>Lindbergh cuenta, en su libro The Spirit of St. Louis, que antes de encarar su vuelo transatl\u00e1ntico analiz\u00f3 cuidadosamente las performances y posibilidades del Fokker trimotor frente a un monomotor y comprob\u00f3 que el primero tendr\u00eda tres veces m\u00e1s posibilidades de que algo fallara, al tiempo que operando con s\u00f3lo dos motores no tendr\u00eda muchas posibilidades de llegar a alguna costa a lo largo del vuelo programado. Por eso el DC-7C se denomin\u00f3 \u201cSeven Seas\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Con los primeros reactores, como era de esperar, hubo problemas. Fundamentalmente de alto consumo y falta de potencia. Eso llev\u00f3 a soluciones mec\u00e1nicamente complejas como el Boeing B-52, un monstruo de ocho motores que depend\u00eda para sus misiones estrat\u00e9gicas del reabastecimiento en vuelo. Era el \u00fanico modo de poder bombardear la URSS, que era el objetivo final del programa.<\/p>\n<p>Los primeros jets de pasajeros, que se pensaron para tramos tan largos como se pudiera, se plantaron en los cuatro motores.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Los franceses<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Hay que reconocer que la industria francesa siempre aport\u00f3 soluciones particulares, distintas de lo com\u00fan, pero que por lo general funcionan. Un buen ejemplo es el Citro\u00ebn 2cv.<\/p>\n<p>A principios de los a\u00f1os cincuenta, cuando ingleses y norteamericanos pugnaban por definir lo que deber\u00eda ser un jet de largo alcance, los franceses descubrieron que el nicho del jet para distancias cortas estaba vac\u00edo, para lo que dise\u00f1aron un avi\u00f3n conceptualmente distinto de lo que estaban proponiendo el resto de los fabricantes, m\u00e1s chico, con s\u00f3lo dos motores y un formato distinto, pero que volar\u00eda en pie de igualdad con el resto.
