Como no puede ser de otra manera lo har\u00e1n los ciudadanos, porque ni empresas ni estados perder\u00e1n un c\u00e9ntimo en esta jugada (foto: KLM).<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Las regulaciones europeas est\u00e1n destruyendo la democratizaci\u00f3n del sector a\u00e9reo. Esa es una de las consecuencias que traer\u00e1n las nuevas pol\u00edticas sostenibles aplicadas por la Uni\u00f3n Europea, que obligar\u00e1 a las aerol\u00edneas a aumentar progresivamente el uso de combustibles sostenibles.<\/p>\n<p>Esta regulaci\u00f3n, que busca reducir la huella ambiental del sector a\u00e9reo, se prev\u00e9 que para 2050 el 70% del combustible utilizado en la aviaci\u00f3n comercial provenga de fuentes sostenibles, la mayor\u00eda SAF, lo que implicar\u00e1 un encarecimiento significativo de los vuelos a lo largo de los pr\u00f3ximos 25 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>Si bien la producci\u00f3n de SAF viene aumentando, solo representa un 0,5% anual. Seg\u00fan la investigadora Mar Reguant (Instituto de An\u00e1lisis Econ\u00f3mico del CSIC), el coste de los vuelos podr\u00eda multiplicarse entre dos y siete veces. Un vuelo entre Barcelona y una capital dentro de\u00a0 Europa podr\u00eda alcanzar los 200 euros en promedio, en tanto que un vuelo a Estados Unidos llegar\u00eda a costar los 700 euros o m\u00e1s, debido al alto coste del combustible ecol\u00f3gico.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 pasa con la producci\u00f3n de SAF?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>El combustible sustentable de aviaci\u00f3n (SAF, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) es la clave de la descarbonizaci\u00f3n de la aviaci\u00f3n comercial.<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, solo el 3% de las aerol\u00edneas emplean fuel sostenible en sus operaciones. Algunas compa\u00f1\u00edas ofrecen a los pasajeros la posibilidad de compensar su huella de carbono mediante un pago adicional, lo que ya evidencia el impacto del uso de estos combustibles en los costes.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, el SAF no se usa en mayores proporciones por el eI precio (hasta tres veces m\u00e1s caro que el queroseno) y por su escasez. El SAF representa el 0,3% de la producci\u00f3n mundial de combustible para la aviaci\u00f3n, y el 11% del combustible renovable en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan IATA, en 2024 la producci\u00f3n de SAF alcanz\u00f3 los 1.300 millones de litros, el doble respecto a la producci\u00f3n en 2023 (600 millones de litros). Esta soluci\u00f3n puede aplicarse de manera inmediata con poca inversi\u00f3n. La iniciativa deber\u00eda comenzar a funcionar de forma masiva y extenderse con urgencia para permitir el coprocesamiento de una mayor cantidad de materias primas renovables. Seg\u00fan IATA. para 2050 el coprocesamiento podr\u00eda ahorrar US$ 347 mil millones en inversiones, ya que se evitar\u00eda la construcci\u00f3n de m\u00e1s de 260 nuevas plantas de combustibles renovables.<\/p>\n<p>Asimismo, ser\u00eda positivo diversificar la producci\u00f3n de SAF. Hay 11 procesos certificados para fabricar SAF, pero el actual m\u00e9todo HEFA (\u00e1cidos grasos de \u00e9steres hidrotratados &#8211; aceite de cocina usado, grasas animales, etc.) representa alrededor del 80% de la producci\u00f3n para los pr\u00f3ximos cinco a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>Los vol\u00famenes de SAF podr\u00edan incrementarse aumentando la inversi\u00f3n para una mayor producci\u00f3n mediante el resto de procesos aprobados, en particular Alcohol-to-Jet (AtJ) y Fischer-Tropsch (FT), que utilizan desechos y residuos biol\u00f3gicos y agr\u00edcolas.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Otro tiro en el pie de la UE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>La descarbonizaci\u00f3n de la industria aeron\u00e1utica debe considerarse parte de la transici\u00f3n energ\u00e9tica mundial, y no separadamente. Lo que est\u00e1 claro es que el sector puede verse muy afectado (foto: Fernando Puppio).<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<hr \/>\n<p>La normativa, adem\u00e1s de contribuir a la reducci\u00f3n de emisiones, podr\u00eda modificar los h\u00e1bitos de viaje de la poblaci\u00f3n. En tanto que el 1% de la poblaci\u00f3n realiza el 50% de los vuelos, la subida de precios podr\u00eda llevar a muchas personas a reducir sus desplazamientos a\u00e9reos o incluso a dejar de viajar en avi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Esta situaci\u00f3n afectar\u00eda directamente a la industria tur\u00edstica espa\u00f1ola, basada en el turismo del buen clima y los precios razonables que busca el ciudadano europeo promedio.<\/p>\n<p>La auto imposici\u00f3n de medidas y plazos incumplibles resultan en contra de todos los interesados directos: ciudadanos, aerol\u00edneas, industria petroqu\u00edmica, etc. Y va solo a favor de la paquid\u00e9rmica burocracia bruselense impulsada por el activismo verde centroeuropeo.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>El Instituto de An\u00e1lisis Econ\u00f3mico del CSIC alerta que las normativas de sostenibilidad aplicadas a las aerol\u00edneas aumentar\u00e1n los costes de los vuelos.
