Sin embargo, la edici\u00f3n 2026 del despliegue Southern Seas adquiere un car\u00e1cter excepcional ya que estar\u00e1 protagonizada por el hist\u00f3rico USS Nimitz (CVN-68), en lo que podr\u00eda representar su \u00faltimo despliegue operacional antes de su retiro.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Un despliegue con significado estrat\u00e9gico y simb\u00f3lico<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>El ejercicio Southern Seas 2026, es el und\u00e9cimo realizado desde el a\u00f1o 2007 a la fecha, y est\u00e1 organizado bajo el alero del U.S. Southern Command y la U.S. Fourth Fleet. incluir\u00e1 ejercicios con las armadas de Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Uruguay, y tendr\u00e1 recaladas en puertos de Panama, Peru Chile, Brasil y Jamaica y retoma el modelo implementado en 2024 con el despliegue del USS George Washington, siempre orientado seg\u00fan la pol\u00edtica oficial de Estados Unidos para la regi\u00f3n:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fortalecer la interoperabilidad con marinas regionales<\/li>\n<li>Consolidar la presencia disuasiva en el hemisferio sur<\/li>\n<li>Impulsar la cooperaci\u00f3n en seguridad mar\u00edtima<\/li>\n<li>Ejecutar ejercicios combinados con pa\u00edses aliados<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sin embargo, en esta ocasi\u00f3n, el componente simb\u00f3lico es particularmente relevante: el despliegue coincide con el tr\u00e1nsito final del USS Nimitz posiblemente hacia su desactivaci\u00f3n, en una traves\u00eda que lo llevar\u00e1 desde el Pac\u00edfico hacia el Atl\u00e1ntico bordeando Sudam\u00e9rica, con destino final la base naval de Norfolk. McHaddad).<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>El USS Nimitz: cinco d\u00e9cadas de proyecci\u00f3n aeronaval<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>La clase Nimitz son unidades que fueron dise\u00f1adas para garantizar presencia global permanente, con capacidad de operar de manera sostenida en m\u00faltiples teatros simult\u00e1neamente. Comisionado en 1975, el USS Nimitz es el buque l\u00edder de su clase y uno de los portaaviones m\u00e1s emblem\u00e1ticos de la historia naval moderna. A lo largo de m\u00e1s de 50 a\u00f1os de servicio, ha sido protagonista de operaciones en m\u00faltiples teatros, consolid\u00e1ndose como un eje central de la proyecci\u00f3n de poder estadounidense.<\/p>\n<p>Su incorporaci\u00f3n marc\u00f3 un punto de inflexi\u00f3n respecto a los portaaviones convencionales que lo precedieron, particularmente aquellos de la clase Kitty Hawk, que constitu\u00edan el n\u00facleo de la flota estadounidense durante las d\u00e9cadas de 1960 y 1970. Sin embargo, su operaci\u00f3n estaba condicionada por limitaciones log\u00edsticas significativas, especialmente en t\u00e9rminos de autonom\u00eda y dependencia de buques de reabastecimiento.<\/p>\n<p>La incorporaci\u00f3n de reactores nucleares permiti\u00f3 una autonom\u00eda pr\u00e1cticamente ilimitada, aumentando la permanencia en zona de operaciones y reduciendo la vulnerabilidad log\u00edstica. Ford<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Pero como todo tiene un final dado el vertiginoso progreso de la tecnolog\u00eda, el reemplazo progresivo de la clase Nimitz est\u00e1 siendo llevado a cabo por la nueva generaci\u00f3n de portaaviones, encabezada por la USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78). Aunque visualmente similares, los buques de la clase Ford incorporan cambios estructurales y tecnol\u00f3gicos significativos, orientados a mejorar la eficiencia operativa y reducir costos a largo plazo.<\/p>\n<p>Entre ellos se pueden mencionar el reemplazo de las catapultas de vapor por catapultas electromagn\u00e9ticas, sistema de detenci\u00f3n de aeronaves avanzado, reducci\u00f3n de la dotaci\u00f3n por medio de automatizaci\u00f3n de procesos, y redise\u00f1o de la cubierta de vuelo para una mejor gesti\u00f3n del lanzamiento y recuperaci\u00f3n de aeronaves.<\/p>\n<p>Estos cambios tecnol\u00f3gicos reflejan un cambio doctrinal, dado que la clase Nimitz fue concebida para satisfacer requerimientos en el contexto de la Guerra Fr\u00eda, mientras que la clase Ford est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ada para operar en los entornos de alta complejidad, actuales caracterizados por guerra electr\u00f3nica avanzada, integraci\u00f3n de sistemas no tripulados, operaciones asim\u00e9tricas.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>El cierre de un ciclo<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>La desactivaci\u00f3n del Nimitz fue planificada para comenzar el a\u00f1o 2025 pero fue pospuesta para mayo del 2026 por las demoras en la construcci\u00f3n del USS Gerald Ford, y ahora la US Navy se enfrenta al dilema de necesitar m\u00e1s portaviones desplegadas en zonas \u201ccalientes\u201d del planeta, un atraso cr\u00f3nico en el programa de construcci\u00f3n de nuevos portaviones y una ley del congreso dl a\u00f1o 2007 que le obliga a tener al menos 11 portaviones en estado de operatividad.<\/p>\n<p>Esto lleva a que probablemente Southern Seas 2026 solamente sea su \u00faltimo paso por Sudam\u00e9rica, posterg\u00e1ndose nuevamente su dada de baja y con ello el cierre de una era en la aviaci\u00f3n naval embarcada dando fin el buque l\u00edder de una clase que redefini\u00f3 la proyecci\u00f3n de poder naval durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX y comienzos del XXI.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La presencia de un portaaviones de la Armada de los Estados Unidos en aguas sudamericanas constituye siempre un acontecimiento novedoso para el p\u00fablico general y con importantes implicancias en el \u00e1mbito geopol\u00edtico.
