El resultado fue impresionante, pero exagerado para las necesidades del momento y llev\u00f3 muchos a\u00f1os adaptar semejante avi\u00f3n al mercado real, golpeado por crisis petroleras y la desregulaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Pan American se comprometi\u00f3 a comprar veinticinco aviones, y Boeing a construirlos y certificarlos en tres a\u00f1os, y cumpli\u00f3, algo impensable en la actualidad, por lo que el modelo entr\u00f3 en servicio en enero de 1970. El pedido de Pan American, aunque significativo, no alcanzaba para cubrir los costos del proyecto, por lo que el fabricante realiz\u00f3 una fuerte campa\u00f1a de promoci\u00f3n entre las principales compa\u00f1\u00edas del mundo, que no se mostraron muy convencidas de necesitar semejante aparato pero que, m\u00e1s que nada por una cuesti\u00f3n de prestigio fueron colocando algunas \u00f3rdenes. A diferencia de los jets anteriores de la marca, el 747 no se adaptaba bien a las demandas del mercado interno norteamericano, por lo que la mayor\u00eda de los pedidos de la primera hora fueron de otros pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n<p>Douglas, el competidor natural en ese mercado, cometi\u00f3 todos los errores de marketing imaginables, porque pod\u00eda alargar y mejorar el DC-8, pero demor\u00f3 la decisi\u00f3n hasta 1965 y despu\u00e9s, hipnotizada por los fuselajes anchos, lo reemplaz\u00f3, en 1968, por el DC-10. Boeing fabric\u00f3 el 707 hasta 1979.<\/p>\n<p>Evidentemente la industria estaba bastante desorientada en esos a\u00f1os, en los\u00a0 que empezaban a prosperar los charters en el Atl\u00e1ntico Norte, todos hablaban de desregulaci\u00f3n y la IATA, por primera vez en la historia, no pod\u00eda ordenar el mercado.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>El Boeing 747 que no vino a la Argentina<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>El 18 de noviembre de 1970 aterriz\u00f3 en Ezeiza el primer Boeing 747, en vuelo de demostraci\u00f3n, organizado por Boeing. El aeropuerto lo soport\u00f3 sin problemas, aunque fueron necesarios algunos equipos especiales.<\/p>\n<p>Pasaron a\u00f1os. El Jumbo entr\u00f3 en servicio en el hemisferio norte pero nadie pens\u00f3 en traer semejante avi\u00f3n a Buenos Aires y, cr\u00e9ase o no, el primero fue Aerol\u00edneas Argentinas que, en marzo de 1975, suscribi\u00f3 un contrato con Boeing para alquilar un avi\u00f3n Boeing 747-100, que se estimaba ser\u00eda puesto en servicio comercial a mediados de ese a\u00f1o. Tambi\u00e9n hubo algunas cuestiones judiciales por la compra de accesorios para un avi\u00f3n que no era de la empresa.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Los pioneros europeos<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Casi todas las empresas europeas que ven\u00edan a Buenos Aires en esos a\u00f1os pusieron al Jumbo en sus rutas troncales del hemisferio norte, pero en esta regi\u00f3n mantuvieron la operaci\u00f3n con aviones de fuselaje angosto, hasta que apareci\u00f3 el McDonnell-Douglas DC-10\/30, la versi\u00f3n de largo alcance de un avi\u00f3n que \u2014originalmente\u2014 se hab\u00eda desarrollado para el mercado interno norteamericano. La primera fue Iberia, que el 29 de noviembre de 1974 inaugur\u00f3 los servicios a Ezeiza con este tipo de m\u00e1quinas.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_58441\" Distinta fue la situaci\u00f3n en lo que hace a comodidades para pasajeros, que en los a\u00f1os setenta ya estaban cerca de la saturaci\u00f3n y requer\u00edan obras civiles importantes. No ten\u00eda ninguna presi\u00f3n competitiva para hacerlo, y prefiri\u00f3 mantener su variada oferta con los Boeing 707, antes que concentrar todo en un avi\u00f3n que seguramente no pod\u00eda llenar en Buenos Aires. De todos modos su publicidad, desde la entrada en servicio del avi\u00f3n, destac\u00f3 todas las conexiones que pod\u00edan hacerse desde Ezeiza para volar en \u00e9l.<\/p>\n<figure 1967 y que por esos a\u00f1os operaba en Ezeiza con sus coloridos DC-8. Hab\u00eda tenido una desventaja porque estos aviones no pod\u00edan volar a Nueva York sin escalas, pero la introducci\u00f3n del modelo 62, en 1974, permiti\u00f3 igualar los tantos. No ten\u00eda problemas de capacidad en sus rutas latinoamericanas y, por eso, destin\u00f3 sus primeros Jumbos a los servicios que estaba inaugurando en el hemisferio norte, a Europa y el lejano oriente.
