Adem\u00e1s de alojar a una cantidad de firmas de mantenimiento, distribuidores y representaciones de aviones y helic\u00f3pteros y escuelas de vuelo, o bien alquilando hangares para no pocas aeronaves privadas, el aeropuerto lleg\u00f3 a ser el primer aeropuerto internacional privado del pa\u00eds y se lo conoc\u00eda popularmente por su <strong>c\u00f3digo DOT<\/strong>. Para celebrar su <strong>40o. aniversario<\/strong>, Aircom S.A. (propietaria del aeropuerto), organiz\u00f3 un festival a\u00e9reo el fin de semana del 29 y 30 de agosto de 1987. En <strong>muestra est\u00e1tica<\/strong>\u00a0se presentaban los\u00a0FH-1100 LV-JTW y UH-12 LV-JAM de\u00a0Aerovida (un operador de emergencias aerom\u00e9dicas surgido en esa \u00e9poca), el\u00a0Pazmany PL-4 LV-X86 de la escuela t\u00e9cnica aeron\u00e1utica de El Palomar (tambi\u00e9n particip\u00f3 en vuelo) como as\u00ed tambi\u00e9n las siguientes aeronaves privadas: Bonanza B35 LV-LSF, Cessna 414 LV-JPZ, Flightstars LV-U-028 y LV-U-121, FW-44J Stieglitz LV-YYZ \u201cHans J. Marseille\u00bb \/ \u00abStern von Afrika\u201d (\u00a1restaurado con marcas del III Reich alem\u00e1n!), Jorge Newbery JN-01 LV-X87, Nimbus 3 D-2149\/\u201dI\u201d, Piper PA-12 LV-NST, Piper\/Chincul PA-25 LV-AXG, Piper\/Chincul PA-36 LV-ODH, Stearman 75s LV-GTZ y LV-GXA y V.
