Con el desarrollo que tras la II Guerra Mundial alcanz\u00f3 la aviaci\u00f3n, este tipo&nbsp; de lapiceras se volvi\u00f3 indispensable para cualquier viajero o tripulante de una aeronave (imagen: archivo Pablo Luciano Potenze).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p align=\"justify\">La aviaci\u00f3n siempre tuvo problemas con la presi\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica\u2026 Y las lapiceras estilogr\u00e1ficas tambi\u00e9n. Las originales ten\u00edan un dep\u00f3sito de goma que se llenaba con tinta haciendo vac\u00edo en \u00e9l (apretando la goma era f\u00e1cil) y sumergiendo la pluma en un tintero. Despu\u00e9s se limpiaba la pluma con un papel secante y estaba lista para escribir. En esos tiempos no se hab\u00edan inventado los rollos de cocina. <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Pero esas lapiceras adem\u00e1s eran un bar\u00f3metro, porque la presi\u00f3n del aire que siempre quedaba en el dep\u00f3sito era constante (o m\u00e1s o menos constante seg\u00fan el dise\u00f1o de la lapicera), y si la presi\u00f3n exterior variaba pod\u00eda impulsar la tinta hacia el exterior de la lapicera, haciendo por lo tanto un manch\u00f3n. <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Por lo general las diferencias de presi\u00f3n en el uso normal de una lapicera no son importantes, y los usuarios en general toleraban esta limitaci\u00f3n, pero cuando se popularizaron los aviones el problema se generaliz\u00f3 entre los pasajeros, que por su status social eran usuarios de estilogr\u00e1ficas, y las manchas en la ropa se hicieron comunes. <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">La soluci\u00f3n que ofrecieron las aerol\u00edneas fueron unas bolsitas alargadas de celof\u00e1n, que se repart\u00edan antes del despegue, donde los pasajeros guardaban sus lapiceras hasta el aterrizaje. Por lo general la tinta se derramaba dentro de la bolsita y la ropa quedaba a salvo. La limitaci\u00f3n era que no se pod\u00eda escribir a bordo, pero para eso estaban los l\u00e1pices. <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">El problema surgi\u00f3 cuando escribir a bordo se convirti\u00f3 en una necesidad ineludible de la aviaci\u00f3n militar. Ese fue un problema grave durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, y se solucion\u00f3 usando bol\u00edgrafos (biromes para los rioplatenses), un nuevo tipo de lapicera inventada por los hermanos Laszlo y George Biro, que pod\u00eda funcionar sin problemas con cambios de presi\u00f3n y, adem\u00e1s, por utilizar tintas muy viscosas, dificultaban su derrame. <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">La historia dice que durante la guerra la firma Eversharp compr\u00f3 una licencia para fabricar las novedosas lapiceras, y que su primer cliente importante fueron las fuerzas armadas, precisamente para usarlas en sus aviones. <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Era la soluci\u00f3n a un problema concreto de los pasajeros a\u00e9reos, que en la postguerra crecer\u00edan de modo exponencial. Eversharp r\u00e1pidamente busc\u00f3 posicionar el nuevo producto, al que no dudaba de calificar de m\u00e1gico. <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Este aviso se public\u00f3 en Selecciones (Reader\u2019s Digest) en abril de 1943, cuando todo lo que tuviera que ver con el esfuerzo de guerra prestigiaba a cualquier industria norteamericana. Fabricar lapiceras no era fabricar armas, pero era aportar una tecnolog\u00eda nov\u00edsima a las fuerzas armadas, y al mismo tiempo anunciaba a los futuros pasajeros que podr\u00edan escribir a bordo de los aviones, una de las tantas maravillas que vendr\u00edan con la postguerra.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La aviaci\u00f3n siempre ha sido tenida como cosa futurista, de avanzada.
