Gaceta Aeronáutica’s primary goal is to provide quality and innovative contents dealing with global aviation events on a (minimum) weekly basis. Operating on-line or via other media, our intent is to produce and publish distinctive historical reports, news briefs and reference sections, illustrated with the best possible and most original pictures and graphics.
Even though the project originated in Spain and has deep Argentine roots, its contents will cover subjects beyond the Spanish or Latin American scenes. Topics of interest for our readers and visitors will be incorporated following our editorial goals and guiding principles:
- We will pay attention to detail: We don’t want to be the fastest publication but the most precise.
- We will try to present the facts as honestly as possible, leaving our reader to come to conclusions.
- We will recruit the best analysts in the filed so that they keep our readers abreast of the latest aviation doctrine, policy and trends.
- We will respect diversity of opinion and will remain loyal to both readers and contributors.
- We will not adhere to the techniques employed by editors and bloggers who provide no added contents beyond that produced by their original sources: We proudly say “no to copy & paste blogging!” .
A short Gaceta Aeronáutica story
Gaceta Aeronáutica was launched in May 2009, shortly after Pista 18 (the web site) ceased to be updated on a regular basis, when a number of former staff members and Grupo Aviación Argentina (formerly GUP18) subscribers joined forces to give shape to a continuation project. After a few months in preparation, the site published its first contents in September 2009 and has since managed to update itself on a (minimum) weekly basis.
Starting in January 2012, Gaceta Aeronáutica will be the subject of a profound renovation project, improving both its graphic layout and its user functionality. Additionally, it will absorb and update contents previously hosted by web sites “Vuelo Rasante” and “Pista 18”. And the former “Aeromilitaria Argentina”, the Argentina military aviation site, will become a regular section inside Gaceta Aeronáutica spearheading the creation of several other national Aeromilitaria sections.
