FIDAE 2012 “on short final”!

The wait is now nearly over! With little over two weeks to go before the show opens on 27 March, the outlook for FIDAE 2012 is taking final shape, although much of its contents will remain under wraps until later in the month. In the third of three instalments on the forthcoming edition of this traditional Chilean air, space, defence & security fair, we disclose our last news round-up summarizing information gathered in the last two months. Then, we’ll start packing-up before heading out to Pudahuel for our initial on-the-spot reports!

TLP 2012 schedule revealed

Even though it will make a dent in its plans and resources, the economical crisis now looming over most of Europe and the United States will not deter NATO’s continued commitment to combined flying crews training. News coming from Albacete confirm the Spanish air base at Los Llanos will continue to host academic and flying courses for the organization’s Tactical Leadership Programme (TLP). Countdown to FIDAE 2012 begins!

With four months to go to before the show opens, we though it wise to start constructing a preview of what attendees, visitors and the general public will witness in Pudahuel next year. The 17th edition of the International Air & Space Fair (Feria Internacional del Aire y el Espacio, or FIDAE 2012) opens on Tuesday 27 March 2012 and news are already starting to flow about its envisaged contents.

Boeing VP: South America may purchase “the latest model of the C-17”

Coinciding with the exhibition of a C-17A Globemaster III in Chile’s air and space fair in March 2010, Boeing was reported as talking to prospective customers about the creation of a South American consortium to operate the type following a “time-sharing” scheme already developed by several NATO air forces.
