The Gaceta Aeronáutica editorial team is basically integrated by Argentine members, albeit with an exclusive addition of international character. Our staff of correspondents and contributors resides not only in Argentina by in other nations where the website has more readers and visitors. This allows us to be closer to them as well as to obtain first-class information which is of interest to our audience.
Fernando L. Puppio Guzmán, Publisher – SPAIN
Born in Buenos Aires in 1974, Fernando was quite early to evince and develop his aviation enthusiasm. He started his editorial career in 1996, when he joined the staff of “Pista 18” (the magazine), where he was a correspondent for many of its sections.
He was also a contributor to many other publications, such as “Air Forces Monthly” (United Kingdom), “Revista de Aeronáutica y Astronáutica” (Spain) and “Model Show” (Argentina). He has also staffed a variety of plastic modelling and aviation cable television shows. A devoted enthusiast of aircraft photography, he has visited a large number of aviation museums, both private and public, military and civilian, around the world. He is also a member of the Spanish “Aire” Association.
As Gaceta Aeronáutica’s chief executive, financial and operating officer, Fernando is responsible for a variety of duties, including financial management, editorial development, correspondent and contributor recruitment and coordination and is also the managing editor for the Spanish version of the site.
Pablo Luciano Potenze, Senior Correspondent – ARGENTINA
Pablo was born in Buenos Aires in 1947, completed high school in the prestigious “Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires” (Buenos Aires National High School) and graduated as an architect from Buenos Aires University.
He was professor of commercial air transport history and airport design at “Universidad Argentina de la Empresa” (1986-2002) and led a variety of courses, seminars and conferences at “Palermo” and “Patagonia San Juan Bosco” universities, the “CIPE” training centre in Ezeiza, the Latin American Aeronautical Law Association, the Argentine Army Technical College, “Aerofila” (an aviation stamp collectors expo), the Argentine National Aviation Library, the Aeronautical Centre for Strategic Studies, the Aviation and Astronautics Writers Society, etc.
He authored two respected commercial air transport books, “Argentine commercial air transport 1945-1980” (Ediciones El Cronista Comercial, Buenos Aires, 1987) and “A history of commercial air transport“ (ALADA/UADE, Buenos Aires, 1997), and has written for a large list of specialist magazines and web sites, including “Aerodeportes”, “Aeroespacio”, AeropuertosArg.com, “Alas”, “Alturas”, “El Mensajero Turístico”, “Guía Internacional de Tráfico”, “Lima Víctor”, National Development, “Negocios Aeroportuarios”, “Opciones”, “Pista 18”, “Todo es historia”, Airline Review and Airways.
In Gaceta Aeronáutica, Pablo is the leading commercial air transport analyst and editor and he’s also the sole provider of “Between the lines”, a special section providing insight on commercial air transport history through their graphic advertising campaigns.
Carlos Ay, Senior Correspondent – CHILE
Born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in March 1962, Carlos developed his interest in aerospace while following his father’s career as an engineering officer with the Argentine Air Force. After residing in several air force bases in Argentina and abroad, at the age of 17 he created his first aviation bulletin, “Aeronoticias Mensuales” (Monthly Air News, one edition, 1979).
After a short stint at the Córdoba air force academy, he started writing more or less regularly for a number of national and international publications such as “Modelos & Colecciones”, “Master en Modelismo”, “Aviación Argentina” and “Alas de América y el Mundo” (Argentina), “JP4 Mensile di Aeronáutica” (Italy), “Air Forces Monthly” and “Air International” (United Kingdom), “Defence & Foreign Affaires” (USA), “Le Fana de l’Aviation” (France), “Boletín de la Fuerza Aérea” (Uruguay), etc.
Yet his greatest contribution to Latin American aerospace journalism probably was developing, coordinating and contributing to a number of independent regional projects, including the “Air Information Group”, “Aviación Latinoamericana”, “Latin American Wings”, “LAW en Castellano” and, ultimately, the respected magazine, “Pista 18”. In the 1990s, he went on to start a number of Internet projects, including “Aeromilitaria Argentina” and a remake of “Pista 18”, as well as the short lived “Archivo Pucará” and “Vuelo Rasante”. Most of his work is being revived, updated and republished in Gaceta Aeronáutica.
In addition to his past, present and future contributions on Argentine military aviation, Carlos is our Senior Correspondent for Chilean aviation, provides innovation and technological advise for the evolution of Gaceta Aeronáutica and is initially coordinating the English version of the site.
Esteban G. Brea, Senior Correspondent – ARGENTINA
Born in September 1982, Esteban’s first contact with aviation were Argentine Air Force Mirage IIIEA supersonic fighters flying-by over his home in Belén de Escobar, 50 kilometres North West of Buenos Aires.
Given time and a little time, he started attending military open days, aerospace expositions and aviation museums, thus increasing his enthusiasm for anything aviation-related. In addition to experimenting with plastic and scratch air modelling, he went on to graduate as a mechanical technician at his home town’s “Hipólito Bouchard” high school.
In adult life, he was an Argentine Air Force academy cadet candidate and graduated as an aeronautical administration expert from “Universidad del Salvador” in Buenos Aires. In addition, he got his private pilot license in 2007.
After a few experimental contributions to “Vuelo Rasante”, he went on to earn himself a distinguished career as an aviation writer and photographer producing contents for aerospace and defence sites such as “Pista 18” and “Dintel-GID” and defence, security magazine “Ares World Defence and Security” (all in Argentina), and Air Forces Monthly (United Kingdom).
Gaceta Aeronáutica is pleased to count Esteban as its main “on the terrain” military aviation correspondent in Argentina, often leading a team of fellow correspondents to a variety of events and sites both in Argentina and abroad. A number of his reports, though, are beginning to turn him into a high-quality historical researcher too.
José Luis Franco Laguna, Correspondent – SPAIN
José Luis was born in Zaragoza in 1968. He became interested in aviation with formations of Spanish Air Force Lockheed T-33s flying over his home town. As a teenager, he turned into an avid reader of aviation and defence publications. At the age of 18, he entered military service as a volunteer in his nation’s air force and served for one full year at Zaragoza Air Base.
As a part-time aerospace and defence researchers, photographer and writer, he has contributed to a number of Spanish publications, including “Revista de Aeronáutica y Astronáutica”, “Aerowings” and “Fuerza Aérea”. He is also a frequent contributor to a number of aircraft photos on-line data bases and portals. He’s a member of the Spanish “Aire” Association and “LEZG Spotters” photographers team and was the winner of the “Revista de Aeronáutica y Astronáutica” photographer award for six consecutive years (2009-2015).
Gaceta Aeronáutica counts José Luis as his first Spanish and European correspondent.
